We’ve recycled over 75 million blister packs throughout the UK and Australia. In partnership with leading national retailers and brands, TerraCycle’s BlisterBack™ program is the leading industry solution to recycle empty medicine blister packaging in the UK—and we’re actively working to bring these solutions to TerraCyclers around the globe! Whether you’re a retailer, brand, pharmacy, or independent business, you can participate or contact us directly to discuss partnership opportunities: https://bit.ly/3MgtQO8
Arent they considered as contaminated? Arent they medical waste?
problem is, there is not a specific place to throw the blisters away- they get mixed in with the rest of the unsorted medical trash
Excellent work 👍 I need to know more about this process and can you share how can we do this and where is the machine available ?
Congrats to those who put effort in 👏 👏 It is worth to keep both cold thermoform Alu (45-60my) and lidding Alu (12-25my as it is attached to blister) concurrently in value chain. Alu below 40my in multilayer laminates preferred for incineration due to calorific value of the laminate.
We would love this conversation on the show floor, for this our 9th Big Sustainability Expo on October 10th at the Hilton Utilita Bowl so do feel free to get in touch.
Let it be written.. henceforth all new construction in fire and Tornado zones will be built with recycled nonflammable non flimsy materials. For a reference read the book, The Three Little Pigs".
Another challenge that only TerraCycle will take on. Courageous leadership.
I’ve been wondering for some time how the pharma industry -that is supposed to be conscientous about the adverse effects of its manufacturing methods- had embraced the blister packaging, which consumes lots of resources and which generates lots of contaminants… (just take Al and PVC, for two examples…)
Now if they could also recycle #5 plastic medicine bottles.....

2moTerraCycle, quick question, are the blister packs we send to you in Australia shipped to the U.K. for recycling, or are they recycled in Australia? 🙂
