Auditions are starting from scratch 🎬🎭

Intention Are you engaging in your craft for the Art or for the Entertainment? Words such as InfoTainment or EduTainment are often used. Then there are a few moments where ArTainment or Creatainment happens. To me, that’s magic. Where the beauty of the artform merges or converges to create a seamless fusing or blending of creative expression and engaging content. Where there is a subliminal intersection of artistic vision meets mass appeal. The intention is clear: Boundaries between high art and popular culture dissolve. That outcome is determined by the desired intention. The aim is to create work that is a culmination of years of honing a specific craft, then packaging it to appeal to many. But, when looking closer, there is true substance and quality. I think of Ballet Companies and how the artwork and skills are worked on and improved upon daily (this has been happening for centuries), but it has to be presented in a fresh way in order to be attractive to new audiences. The uninformed say that Soccer (not ‘football’ - fight me) is ‘just kicking a ball around a field’; but to those in the know, they can appreciate the athleticism and skill required to play at a high level. Formula 1 is cars driving around a track? SMH. The insane creativity and skill, engineering and vision required to blend all the elements for optimal performance is appreciated by the fundi’s. But, Formula 1 have learnt that it must be sold to new audiences in a new way (Cue: Drive To Survive). If they want the drama, give it to them. Rivalries? We’ve got you. Cricket? T20. Similarly, intention should be clear when you’re creating: For example, do you participate… - To Win - To Express - To Entertain - For Exercise - To Connect If your intention is clear then it doesn’t matter because you will appreciate your personal reasons for indulging in your desired activity.
