𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐮𝐞 𝐯𝐬 𝐑&𝐃 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐓𝐨𝐩 𝐌𝐞𝐝𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐃𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐬! I previously wrote about the R&D spending of the top Medical Device companies. To show the trends better, I thought it would be good to also compare their ranking based on ► Revenue, ► R&D Spend (Dollar amount), ► R&D Spend (% of Revenue). Would be interesting to see how these numbers and ranking will change in coming years, as some of these companies, such as Philips, have already started revisiting their R&D spending. Next, I will look into the economics of three other major players in the medical device sector namely FUJIFILM, Canon, and Mindray. #revenue #medicaldevices #researchanddevelopment #rnd #healthcareinnovation Medtronic, Siemens Healthineers, BD, Philips, Stryker, GE HealthCare, Baxter International Inc., Boston Scientific

If one thinks about the quality of after sales services I think a buyer needs to ask the hard questions after requiring the seller of a devices, new, refurbished or as is, provides adequate manuals and software at a layperson’s level before the sale to examine. Is the service from new device sellers better than everyone else? There is no proof to back this a statement of services. In fact CDRH found ISO services do not pose a patient safety risk. If one expands services from the OEM I would ask with the reliance on on line troubleshooting is an OEM service rep trained to a superior level? My answer is no for one reason. Why would an OEM y train a person to a level that this person could benefit from by starting their own business? In addition, I ask are persons who start their own service company that competes with their former company more qualified than the OEM reps? Yes. Buyers beware. If an OEM will not give you adequate manuals and software at a layperson’s level before the sale for you to examine and request more, do not buy their devices period end of discussion. That’s how it’s done starting at the VA, DOD, large hospitals and independent medical facilities and only this will answer Dustin’s questions.
I'm so tired of this us against them mentality in all aspects of life nowadays. I'm guilty of it, and never thought my career would evolve into acting like a 4th grader with corporations that were an inspiration to me in my childhood. Let's work together to improve our industry, we need each other! I know the majority of our community wants standards for servicing the amazing equipment you guys make, let's make them together! Let's recognize we all have employees who don't live up to the standards we want and figure out how to correct it. I want to offer a formal invitation to all OEM's and lobbying groups to meet with the Biomed community and have an open discussion on working together and truly improving patient care and safety. Instead of fighting each other to change regulations for the benefit of companies, let's do the right thing and make standards with only the patients'interest at heart. if we can make this happen we all need to agree to start with a clean slate. Placing blame doesn't help anyone in this case. I hope everyone truly considers this, it would benefit the people that I believe the majority of us do this job for, the patients! .
