I love buying art off the side of the street. Those bright colors and imaginative depictions laid out on an upturned door, or hanging from clothes pegs, or that lure you inside a tiny local gallery. I take thousands of photos (that I’ll have to deal with one day), but that little painting will go on my wall and soon come to color my memory of a place. It becomes part of the fabric of the story I tell of our journey.. Because we are the stories you tell about ourselves. The stories that are true and the ones that become true because we tell them so often. Stories become true not because of their factual accuracy, but because of how they make us behave, how they make us remember, how they make us feel about people, places and things. They are what governs our reactions and determine our love, hurt, courage, fear & indignation. So we need to take extra care with the stories we tell out loud. Because they will become true for others too. Humans are hard-wired to tell and listen to stories. We are drawn to each other by the stories we tell. If you have a stage or an opportunity to tell your story, what are the truths that are important for you to share? What do you want the audience to remember? How do you want to make the audience feel? What stories will you tell to get there? #publicspeaking #storytelling #speakercoach
Art, stories, and memories intertwine! 🎨✨ By sharing stories, we get closer through similar feelings and experiences, telling these stories helps us form bonds.
Mmmmm yes and what a lovely image of you buying art from the roadside Tessa Rawson. It sometimes scares me how humans often have different stories from the same event... but that's also the beauty of life.
I appreciate the rejection of "fact" and embrace of an impression. It's a more accurate thing to depict 😏 For me, words are the art. It's important I can use them for almost any purpose... But I especially like using my art form for small businesses!
Also, where are you guys now?! Tessa Rawson
Such a fascinating quote Tessa! Love this. I’m a bit jealous of creative people/artists. Would love to pop into their brain for a day to see how they process the world.

7moA core theme I teach job seekers is the importance of telling a story from their experiences. It's as you said, "humans are drawn to each other by the stories we tell."
