Termination> Apology. Diversity & Inclusion is not brand new, nor has it been well executed. This letter fixes nothing. Holding those who led this event accountable is the key. Most people know right from wrong & some still pick wrong. Replace those individuals who are capable of executing the pitiful task & painful situations.

Someone should be held accountable not just an apology.

First: Good apology from Palo Alto Networks and Nikesh Arora. Correctly hits the Regret, Reiteration, Responsibility, Repentance, Repair, and Request (for Forgiveness). If you wanted to quibble, you could assert that in Reiteration, harm acknowledgement is implied and not asserted, and in Request, Forgiveness is assumed and not requested; but as corporate apologies go, this is above and beyond what you generally see. Second: This is not isolated, I think. We eliminated booth babes at RSA Conference years ago (thank you to everyone involved in that). This was my first in-person BlackHat conference, and while I didn't see any booth babes, I did observe floorwalkers (before/after their shift, so I did not call it out without direct evidence, and stalking the attractive women in scanty outfits until I could do so seemed ... unseemly). I think it's time that we, as an industry, cut this out. So here is your easy standard, CMOs: if you are hiring external staff as part of a conference, whether it is to woman* your booth, glam up your party, or anything where they represent your company: you should apply the same gender diversity approach you want HR to apply to new hires. If you're hiring all women, that's just as much of a problem as if your company was only hiring men. Since this staff is going to represent your company, they should probably have the same demographics as your employees -- if your company is currently 80% male, then your outside event staff ... should be 80% male. *Yes, technically, we should switch the usual "man your booth" to "staff your booth," but let's be honest, you're all hiring women to glam up your booth. #inclusion #diversity

I rarely post personal updates on here but this one is special. Earlier this year I decided to enrol myself on a 4 month coaching programme called Courage to Soar. The goal was simple: learn how to show up powerfully and be loyal to my dreams, instead of my fears. Over the course of 4 months, thanks to Farah Ismail and her team I’ve had the chance to meet the most amazing community, be part of some eye opening master classes and dive deeper into Tara Mohr’s principles of ‘Playing Big’🤩 Here are some takeaways and aha’s I had: 🚀 ‘Be loyal to your dreams, not your fears’: a sentence you’ll come across often if you’re familiar with the playing big book, but one that really spoke to me because so often I have let fear control my decisions 🚀 Recognise your inner critic and add humour to it. Like many others, I’m well acquainted with my inner critic, always showing up when at the brink of my comfort zone, to rationalise why I shouldn’t step up or why I’m not ‘good enough’. I’ve learnt that recognising it and perhaps even adding humour by personifying is always a useful tool to separate myself (and what I truly want) from the critic. 🚀 Be my word. If I commit to doing something, make sure I’m staying true to it and getting it done with integrity. This one might seem simple, but I have surprised myself with the number of times I have wanted to back down from something I intended to do. Staying true to my word is now something I value deeply and try to do both in my work and relationships 🚀 Have an accountability partner. Regardless of your goal, I’ve learnt that having someone to share it with and hold you accountable is a crucial ingredient to achieving it. My accountability partners have been the courage to soar community and I’m super grateful to have been a part of it. #coaching #playingbig #leadership
It’s all happening right here, right now. I’m incredibly honored to announce that Ruben Gonzalez ❄️, Marcia Reynolds, PsyD, MCC, and Alok Appadurai, have graciously accepted to join in as our special guest speakers on Courage to Soar - The Journey to Playing Big. Over the last few years, I have been in very transformational spaces and what has touched me deeply is ways we can serve and astound our clients. In the spirit of that, I have been inspired to do just that! Watch this space to get to know our guests better and what to expect when you were ALL IN!

Indeed, an interactive evening spent on understanding #ArtificialIntelligence & its interactions with Business & Cognitive Intelligence. Some wonderful examples of chutney & dogs (!!) to understand #AI with humour! My 2 key learnings: 1. Instead of hire-to-retire #employeeexperience, let's look at it as candidate-to-alumni experience (incl. suppliers' ecosystem) to see where AI can support BI & CI. 2. AI as a super-highway: either be afraid or let it empower you. Interesting use cases of a) AI helping HR/managers to understand overall skill sets of employees (even those developed on own time) to help with IJP & retention; b) identifying moments that AI can transform to #automated nudges in #personalized manner. Another highlight was accidentally sitting next to Dr. TV Rao, saying hello out of habit, slow realization who I just said hello to & then forgetting how to speak! Thankfully, I don't need AI to tell me how to avoid regrets next time!! 😁 NHRD Bangalore Chapter

Have you ever wondered what you should say if you have been selected to receive an award, the experts say the following: 1. Express your gratitude and be genuine. Speak from the heart and remember to acknowledge the sponsoring organization as well as any other nominees. 2. Demonstrate why you are deserving of the honor. Keep the self-deprecation to a minimum; don't make them regret selecting you over others. 3. Recognize those who helped you achieve success. Use your moment in the spotlight to pay it forward. Personalize your speech with anecdotes. This is still a speech, after all, so make it memorable and meaningful. 4. Respect the audience and the clock. Not every awards ceremony has an orchestra to play you off the stage when you overstay your welcome.

I saw something recently that said, "your brain can’t be grateful and anxious at the same time." Interesting, but it felt way too simple. People are more complicated than “either you’re grateful or anxious,” right? So, I did some digging to figure out what’s really going on—and here’s what I found. 🧠 Gratitude practices, done over time, actually change the brain - activating the limbic system, boosting memory, and emotional regulation.* ⚕ Physical benefits of daily gratitude practices include lower blood pressure, better sleep, a stronger immune system, and less stress—cortisol levels drop by 23.* 🤨 Some studies suggest the brain pathways associated with gratitude and anxiety are distinct, so when one is activated, the other is *typically* suppressed to some degree. 🚫 Gratitude doesn’t magically erase anxiety (humans are complex, remember?), but it can take the edge off. It helps reduce stress, strengthens emotional resilience, and even blocks toxic emotions like envy or regret. 💡 Bottom line: You can be grateful and anxious—it’s not one or the other. But leaning into gratitude gives you tools to navigate the hard stuff a little better. What's your take? #gratitude #stress #wholehumanleadership * According to research by Psychologists Dr. Robert Emmons and Dr. Michael McCullough of UC Davis and University of Miami, respectively.
