Roma's sacking of Daniele de Rossi and how it took place is a sad indictment of how football clubs at the highest level are losing values and their culture.
De Rossi is a club legend and was informed about the sacking right when he was about to take training.
Even a lot of Roma players got to know about the sacking through social media or when they were in their cars, on the way to training.
Sacking a manager is okay. But there is a way that should be carried out, especially because this is someone who means more to Roma than the current ownership probably ever will.
When someone like him gets a sack in that way, it makes you think of how corporate the game has become. Almost like a company that doesn't care about it's own workers.
Historic clubs are losing values when they should be retained, cherished and used as a pull to attract fans and attention from a global perspective.
It is PR disaster for an ownership to treat a club icon in this manner and a lesson for why a football club with values and specific ideals should try to not steer away from what it stands for.
