The maritime industry is witnessing a huge increase in demand for communication services, both for the welfare of crew members and for business applications. 🎙️ Our latest episode of the Seatrade Maritime Podcast, features Ben Palmer, the President of Inmarsat Maritime, who talks about the rapidly changing communication landscape in the industry. In a discussion with Marcus Hand, Editor of Seatrade Maritime News, Ben notes that when he entered the industry, he was surprised to find that many people believed that LEO and GEO were mutually exclusive or there wasn't going to be room for both. However, he believes that the demand for communication services is increasing across the maritime industry as well as in the broader economy. "We are seeing demand for crew and business applications risen by 70% and 50%, respectively over the last couple of years.” he said. The conversation covers various topics such as: 🔹 Inmarsat’s merger with Viasat and what this means to the company and its customers. 🔹 The rise of LEO constellations and combining with Inmarsat’s GEO offerings as an orchestrated network 🔹 Developing a 5G over water service 🔹 Managed services and software provision 🔹 The outlook for maritime communications 🎧 You can listen to the full episode here: https://lnkd.in/d622NEzm

We’re very excited to share the latest episode of The Infrastructure Podcast with our followers! 🎙️ The weekly podcast features lively conversations with the infrastructure sectors’ leaders and influencers across the UK. Recently, host Antony Oliver, one of the industry’s leading commentators, invited our Business Development Director Mike Muldoon onto the podcast to talk all things carbon reduction. Throughout the informative and engaging episode, the pair discuss Mike’s ideas on driving down the carbon cost of infrastructure, and what he considers the industry needs to do to reach net zero by 2050 - or sooner. 💨 Mike’s pragmatic approach means not looking at transport end users and modes in isolation, but also at the infrastructure required to facilitate them. Listen to the full episode via the link below - you might even learn a bit about custard and circular saws! 🍮 https://loom.ly/gbg9Qck Also available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Google Podcasts, Amazon Music, Stitcher and Podcast Addict. #rail #transport #infrastructure #carbon #climate #carbonreduction #netzero #climateaction #sustainability #podcast #SYSTRAexpertise

Founder @XemplaHq. Ex AIESECer. SGx Winter 2020 by SaaSBoomi. Helping Facility Management leaders deliver inclusive digital transformation, delivering profits & growth opportunities for O&M & Engineering teams!
Back from a very successful and enlightening trip from 🇬🇧. What stood out? 1. No more dashboards - Everyone wants to see outcomes (was very evident from Smart Buildings Show ) 2. Modern day platforms for running hard services / energy and engineering services are being redefined by Tier 1 players, Tier- 2 and emerging players continue to take the same trajectory as was taken decades back. 3. Assurance is number 1 priority for C-Suite of all leading FM companies involved in #PFI projects from healthcare to education to other public services. Which one of these seems obvious and which is a surprise feature? Will cover more in details in a podcast and the #ForeverForward newsletter. #FacilitiesManagement #AssetPerformanceManagement
