McAllister deliver another lining and combined civils project from concept design through to construction. By adopting building information modelling (BIM) processes and a going-digital strategy from the outset allowed the project team to improve collaboration and cooperation with the client, supply chain and stakeholders. The 3D digital engineering models enabled immersive simulation for review and approvals and provided engineering-ready data required for handover.
Complexities included:
· Multi-Track rail crossing
· Twin 750mmØ and 900mmØ syphon crossing under strategic rail lines with multiple bends
· Heavy traffic, rail and construction phase loadings to consider
· Limited and undersized asset access points
· Multi stakeholder engagement
· Site access
· High volumes and difficult access for flow management
Solution:
· McAllister internal design and modelling team exhausted all CIPP methods to develop a solution that considered bends, heavy rail loadings, construction phase ground movement and available access to the assets.
· This resulted in a multi CIPP solution with both Ultraviolet (UV) and a composite felt lining solution.
· Design, model and erect multi layered scaffold to facilitate the lining solution.
· Deconstruction of original access points including reprofiling and securing rail verge
· Construction of new manhole to incorporate a temporary flume system during the construction phase.
