Sustainable development can only be achieved through the direct involvement and participation of community members. It is important to embed a needs-based self-help approach where community members are part of the solution to the problem. LABE has used a Family Basic Education Approach where we empower the parents about Early Childhood Development and train them on techniques and practices they can use to actively support their children before they transition to formal education, giving them a cognitive advantage. This approach has been effective at the community level and we intend to further embed this approach within the national education system with the support of government and relevant policy makers. #Literacy #Education #CommunityDevelopment #Sustainability

Friday morning clarion call made by Nicholas Kristoff in the #newyorktimes today: "We Americans Neglect Our Children." https://lnkd.in/gymniKjM If you have a child in your life, or know someone who does, or you're an American who cares about our country (pick one -- any one -- of these categories), this is for you: "Individually, we adore and pamper our children. We shuttle them from soccer practice to music lessons and then organize their play dates with meticulous fanaticism. Yet collectively, we mistreat America’s children, especially by the standards of other wealthy countries... Children are more likely to go hungry or live in poverty in America than in most of our peer countries..." He goes on to share concrete solutions, one of them being Educare Schools https://lnkd.in/gz9s5cBP. We can, we must get this right. Parents, stand up. Citizens, stand up. "The best metric for a society’s future is how well it nurtures its next generation. So this election year, let’s look beyond the political horse race and culture war to grill candidates on their policies toward children — and thus our country’s future." #StartEarly #familiesfirst #nextgeneration #birthtofive #earlychildhood #earlychildhooddevelopment

"If we have a set idea of what freedom is and what freedom must be, we end by becoming slaves of our idea of freedom. Instead by living with the children and by observing their expressions of life, we must learn for ourselves what freedom really is. If we leave children free, we can observe what they do when they are free and we can follow with them a certain law by following which we come together. Freedom is thus to become free of certain ties that we have with certain things that restrict us. When we know what freedom is we learn to accept new idea freely" (Dr. Montessori, Creative Development in the Child Vol 1) Reading this it seems to implement the idea of freedom in a classroom or maybe even at home is a bit challenging. A prepared environment then definitely should have the kind of freedom what Montessori speaks of. And this can be achieved through a thorough knowledge of the needs of children ( with respect to their age), and an eye for observation. In a primary environment, we set the ground rules through grace and courtesy lessons and keeping in mind the successive levels of independence we want the child to achieve so that they are less and less dependent on adults and they connect and conquer their environment. In an elementary environment the ground rules are set together with children. Their ideas and thoughts are encouraged because the aim is to help them think for themselves. And in an Erdkinder, the adolescents' have to take complete control and so they need to be given a higher level of freedom to take decisions for their community and environment so that they experience and are on the road to becoming fully functional and independent adults. The environment and the adults should be at the child's disposal. #montessori #freedom #independence #education

The natural world belongs in PreK/K classrooms! Here's some noteworthy research on the importance of a connection to nature related to an environmental mindset from the International Journal of Early Childhood Environmental Education. Education leaders can facilitate opportunities for students to connect with nature, even when experiences are just outside the classroom door or created indoors. Through these opportunities children learn to live in harmony with the earth as members of the ecosphere. Johnnie Max builds connections to the natural world through vibrant photographs and engaging activities. From the archives... I couldn’t agree more with Kerry McDonald on this, “We need less government involvement in education, not more.” Many other great points in this article like the failure of existing expenditures to produce quantifiable gains in student achievement. The most devastating part is the impact on families as the government gets ahold of our children’s minds earlier, for longer periods of time, and later. The American Families Plan is detrimental to families, not supportive of them. #HomeEducation #homeschool #homeschooling #education #GetOutNow #PublicSchoolExit #ChristianEducation #EdcuationIsDiscipleship #ChristianHomeschoolRevolution Disclaimer: Sharing of this content does not constitute an endorsement of any specific content by the author/original poster, quoted/cited individual, website, or affiliated organization(s). https://lnkd.in/gz4xa5G

School for Heaven's Children (Austisme). 1945 Constitution Chapter XIII Article 31 Paragraph (1), Every citizen is obliged to attend basic education. Paragraph (2) Every citizen is obliged to attend basic education and the state is obliged to finance it. The role and efforts in this case of the Depok City Government can be seen in preparing inclusive education in regular schools, especially at the junior high school level. This means that there are infrastructure, human resources and an inclusive teaching system provided, although there is still a lot of homework that needs to be added and improved, for example there are not many inclusive schools available for early childhood and elementary school education, the available quota is still very minimal and The human resources for specially trained austisme accompanying teachers are still very lacking. Seeing this problem, an active role from civil society is also needed to help and provide inclusive schools for autisme children that are cheap and affordable so that austisme children do not drop out of school because they are burdened by very expensive funding.
