We're excited to share that Vitesco Technologies has chosen our Transistors 650 V to boost the efficiency of its Gen5+ GaN Air DCDC converter. 🥳 The transistors significantly improve overall system performance while minimizing system cost and increasing ease of use. As a result, Vitesco created a new generation of DCDC converters that set new standards in power density and sustainability for power grids, power supplies, and OBCs. What that means in numbers? 🚀 ➡️ The use of GaN allows the power of the converters to be scaled up to 3.6 kW and the power density to be increased to over 4.2 kW/l ➡️ The Gen5+ GaN Air DCDC converters offer an efficiency of over 96 percent ➡️ They provide a two-phase output of 248 A at 14.5 V continuous. I am thrilled to announce that our paper has been accepted for presentation at the SAE International World Congress Experience (#WCX, Detroit, April 16-18, 2024). I’d like to thank my supervisor, Dr. Gordon McTaggart-Cowan, for his great support, insight and feedback during this work. This study presents two methods for downsizing heavy-duty engines by leveraging an experimentally validated system-level model. Engine scaling is one of the technology systems that need to be considered, given the advances of hybrid-electric powertrains and the necessity of optimum component sizing. By using fast-to-run, transient capable 1-D models, our findings contribute to evaluating the potential for hybridizing long-haul heavy-duty trucks.
