What is non-reciprocal interaction with the thermal vacuum? Let’s ask Bing. “Non-reciprocal interactions with the thermal vacuum refer to interactions where the action and reaction forces are not equal and opposite, breaking Newton’s third law. This concept is often explored in the context of non-Hermitian dynamics, which include dissipation, gain, and non-conservative interactions.” And the paper in Nature is: “Non-reciprocal energy transfer through the Casimir effect” And the free copy is at: https://lnkd.in/gUp47eiM Supported by DARPA and Naval Research.

Having recently spoken at the Informa Super Return Energy conference with James P. Pinkerton - this pick of Chris Wright by the President-elect validates much of what Jim and I were referencing last week in our panel and in side-bar conversations. Not sure all of the speakers (with green energy interests) we heard from had yet truly internalized the scope of the change that is coming and represented by the election results. In coming years, the "energy transition" that was being referenced in each panel is actually going to be less about new windmill farms and carbon credits and more towards finding more sources of carbon-based fuels such as natural gas and looking for ways to produce it in cleaner ways and implementing innovative carbon capture techniques. Chris Wright future Secretary of Energy will continue to be a "steadfast champion for American energy" on an even bigger stage. This pick combined with former Governor Doug Burgum being announced as a new "Energy Czar" and Secretary of the Interior and new Executive Orders, regulatory, legislative initiatives will likely help American industry unleash an unprecedented amount of energy production. #energyindependance Liberty Energy #AllOfTheAbove
Chris Wright has been a steadfast champion for American energy, including an unapologetic advocacy for the oil and natural gas that powers over half of our nation. His leadership at Liberty Energy has consistently highlighted the critical role our industry plays in ensuring affordable and reliable power for ALL Americans. As someone who has had the honor of serving as the US Secretary of Energy, I know firsthand the challenges and responsibilities that come with this role. Chris’s deep understanding of the nation’s resource ecosystem and his passion for advancing innovative ideas make him an outstanding choice to be the 17th Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE). Congratulations, Chris! I look forward to working alongside you as we continue to build a secure and prosperous future for America.

The U.S. Department of Energy is supporting an Iowa State-led project to build the first “microgrid” in rural Iowa. The project will create a utility-scale microgrid in Montezuma to provide reliable, resilient and affordable electricity. “This is so much more than an R&D project because it will directly benefit more than 1,400 Montezuma residents and generate significant impacts on surrounding counties. It shows Iowa State University is working to bring real benefits to Iowans and boost local economies," said Northrop Grumman associate professorZhaoyu Wang, s co-leader on the project with Anne Kimber, director of the Electrical Power Research Center. read more about the microgrid here: https://lnkd.in/gzEMvS58
