Over the last few months, I’ve had the pleasure of connecting with many Keter team members in person, and I always take the opportunity to engage with them to learn more about them and understand their impact on the company. During one of my recent trips to Israel, I ran into Daniel Netzer at one of our factories. Daniel has worked at Keter since September 1990, an amazing 33 years of service. His current role is Logistics Manager. Before this, he held various positions, including Production Manager, Logistics Center Manager, and Plant Manager. More importantly, Daniel is a great person and a devoted family man who loves meat and football, like many from South America. He has a remarkable ability to recognize potential in individuals, and many owe their roles in the company to him. He is known for spreading goodwill and performing good deeds wherever he goes. Face-to-face engagement with employees is a critical aspect of effective leadership and organizational success. These encounters are important because they reinforce the notion of being part of a broader organization, and they are essential in fostering collaboration and building camaraderie. They also enhance communication, build relationships, foster trust, and support the notion that we are all part of ONE Keter. This is me on the 5:24 a.m. train from Mernda to Flinders Street Station. This time, I can't see kangaroos or cows feeding on grass, it's dark and sunrise is getting later, around 6:30 a.m. Instead, I saw the lovely train driver smiling at another customer, and that reminded me of the many reasons I love arriving early at work; making my colleagues and customers smile, the most rewarding of those. I believe that keeping people at work motivated is a priority, and the team leaders in my company are experts at doing that. During my almost three-year career with ME, thanks to my leaders, I have grown to be an experienced, knowledgeable, passionate, and trustworthy consultant. I feel confident at work, cared for, supported, respected, and important for the business. You let me know, isn't that all we want as humans? Alright, it's time to work and to help some people feel the same way, ta, vamos! (The photo has nothing to do with work, but those people are my biggest motivation)

There are only two types of leaders in this world. We're a 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗱 or a 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿. A 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗱: Leads from the front, guiding the sheep by setting an example. They use gentle methods like whistling, calling, and body language to direct the flock. Shepherds aim to make the sheep feel safe and secure. A 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗲𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗲𝗿: Often leads from behind or the side, using forceful methods like shouting, dogs, and sometimes even physical force to move the sheep. The focus is on control and efficiency rather than building trust. If we want to create the best long-term results for us and our team (family, work, etc.), we need to employ the best principles, attributes, and sometimes the right tools to help us be an effective 𝗦𝗵𝗲𝗽𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗱.

Of course…making sure work is completed to the appropriate expectation is important…but to do that, we need to have the right people in the right places! Leaders who are team management experts know each person’s unique skills. One way to do that: Develop a skills inventory for the team. This document can outline the skills and expertise of each team member, making it easier to match individuals with projects that align with their strengths. Even though an employee was hired for a specific job – they have other skills that can be assets too! 🙂 Managing the team – also means – managing the inventory of unique skills that your crew has to offer! Leadership is not about sculpting uniformity; it's about chiseling away at the unique strengths of each individual, creating a team that stands strong in its diversity.✨
