New Politics believes in the incredible potential of service-minded individuals, especially AmeriCorps alums, to reshape politics. The diverse skill set that volunteers gain through service makes them uniquely qualified for political leadership. Here are some examples of those skills: 1) Leadership & Teamwork Volunteers engage in hands-on leadership opportunities and collaborate with diverse teams. 2) Effective Communication Whether it's public speaking, writing, or interpersonal skills, AmeriCorps empowers volunteers to communicate effectively with diverse communities. 3) Problem-Solving AmeriCorps challenges you to think critically and solve problems creatively. Volunteers gain a valuable skill set that empowers them to tackle complex issues with confidence. These are all skills we desperately need in the political arena. Our AmeriCorps Alums are transforming our politics because they're applying skills they learned during their service.

Family and Community Engagement Coordinator at Harlandale ISD with expertise in Educational Leadership and Youth Mentoring.
In the work of service, leadership isn’t about titles or power; it’s about making a positive impact, fostering collaboration, and creating an environment where everyone can thrive. Speaking of leadership, if you work in public or charter schools in Texas, have you connected with the Association for Compensatory Educators of Texas (ACET)? There’s no better time than now to join a network of great leaders across Texas who are making a significant impact through compliance, policy, funding, and much more.
