Walker, Claudio D’Ambrosio, and the co-authors on the publication of their manuscript "Comparing prospectively assigned trial and real-world lung cancer patients" in the Journal of Comparative Effectiveness Research! Recently, a significant breakthrough has been made by a multidisciplinary team led by Professors Gigi P.-C. Lo and Kwan T. Chow from the Department of Biomedical Sciences at City University of Hong Kong. Bowel Research UK is supporting vital research aimed at understanding how acidity levels within tumours influence treatment responses in cancer patients. This study, led by Professor Pawel Swietach at the University of Oxford, investigates the role of tumour acidity in affecting drug resistance and the release of proteins that can aid in diagnosis. By identifying new markers related to acidity, the research team hopes to provide insights that could personalise treatment for patients, ultimately improving their care and outcomes.
