Viscose: Absorbent cellulosic: Does not dry easily compared to polyester & cotton/linen. Comfortable soft and silky, with good drape ability had good tensile strength abrasion property. Easy mix and dyed: Can be mixed with various other fabrics like polyester it becomes polyviscose and can dyed in several colors. Viscose can be mixed with spandex: Spandex/Lycra is strong, and elasticity is used mostly for sportswear. My carding team was not happy with the woven nylon mesh fabric being used in the cyclone compactor of our blowroom/carding section due to below issues:- 1. Clogging: the nylon woven mesh gets clogged very quickly with powders/oligomers present in the synthetic fibres especially para-aramid fibres (this itself is a very interesting research area) which can reduce the efficiency of the air removal process from blowroom/carding machines; 2. Maintenance and Downtime: Regular cleaning and maintenance of the nylon mesh needed to prevent clogging which increases downtime, reducing overall productivity; 3. Wear and Tear: Woven nylon mesh gets damaged very quickly due to the constant abrasion with high strength powders/oligomers. This necessitates regular replacement, adding to operational costs. Knowing that cyclone compactor is essential for efficient, high-quality, and cost-effective yarn production, we decided to make these bags using UHMWPE knitted fabric which is not only light weight, but also highly abrasion resistant and hydrophobic in nature. Initial trial seems very promising, requested few textile researchers to take this up as a minor project to evaluate this product for next 3-6 months! #textileindustry #productivity #innovation

JACK WOLFSKIN has announced plans to replace the chemical intensive hydrophobic down used in some of its apparel with an alternative called ExpeDRY, which is free from per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs). Developed by ALLIED Feather + Down and in partnership with FUZE Technologies, ExpeDRY is said to be better than conventional hydrophobic down at providing thermal insulation in wet and humid environments.
