In December, we took a trip to Taiwan and Japan to look at future products and developments. Navigating an airport can be difficult and daunting. At Osaka airport, we saw how autonomous mobility is helping 10,000 people a month move freely an independently through the airport. We saw how Whill products are available to help passengers to check in their mobility devices, key flight details into the Whill which then glides silently safely drives to your boarding gate, pausing anywhere you wish on route. This scheme is giving freedom and independence at airports throughout Japan and with trials running in the US and Europe, hopefully the UK can follow suit and make future travel that little bit easier. #accessibletravel #osakaairport #internationaltrip #futureofmobility

As we round out 2024, we have taken some time and a trip to look ahead to 2025 and beyond, finishing the year with a visit to Taiwan and Japan to look at future products and developments. We have been able to take a privileged view into the future of mobility in terms of the products and service and how they interact with us to make everyday activities a little easier. On a trip to Osaka airport we saw for ourselves just how autonomous mobility is helping 10,000 people a month move freely an independently through the airport. There are a number of Whill’s available at convenient posts, enabling passengers to check in their mobility devices, key flight details into the Whill which then glides silently safely drives to your boarding gate, pausing anywhere you wish on route. Navigating an airport is difficult and daunting prospect for many. This scheme is giving freedom and independence at airports throughout Japan and with trials running in the US and Europe, hopefully the UK can follow suit and make future travel that little bit easier. #TGAReflection #mobilitymatters #thankyou2024

🛣 𝐑𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐬? 𝐖𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐞'𝐫𝐞 𝐠𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐰𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐬! Remember that iconic line from #BacktotheFuture? Well, buckle up, because the future of flying cars might be closer than we think, especially in China! The 2024 Beijing Auto Show just wrapped up, and the star of the show wasn't a sleek new sedan, but a revolutionary concept – the "Land Aircraft Carrier" by Xiaopeng Huitian (小鹏汇天). This isn't your typical flying car with a hefty price tag and limited space. It's a two-in-one beast: a luxurious, intelligent car for ground travel and a detachable electric flying vehicle! Imagine ditching traffic jams for scenic skyways – air taxis could become a reality sooner than you think! Think of the road car with a powerful hybrid engine and a comfortable cockpit for 4-5 people. But the real magic happens with the vehicle taking off and fly. It boasts a sleek design, a panoramic view, and the ability to take off and land vertically – no runway needed! Imho, while flying cars promise faster commutes and potentially lower environmental impact due to electric propulsion, there are questions to consider. ▶ How will air traffic control be managed for a sky full of flying vehicles? ▶ What infrastructure changes might be needed for landing and charging? ▶ Any safeguards to provide the cars from crashing into buildings? "Flying Cars? Think Again The Future is Already Here." For years, we’ve been sold the idea that flying cars belong in sci-fi movies. But what if I told you that the technology exists, the infrastructure is being built, and air taxis are closer to reality than most people think? The question is no longer if this will happen it’s who will make it happen first. And more importantly, who is ready to embrace this revolution? Air taxis will change everything: ✈️ No more traffic jams wasting hours of your life. 🚀 Travel times cut by 70% urban mobility redefined. 🌍 A cleaner, more efficient future powered by electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) technology. I’ve spent years understanding business strategy, digital transformation, and market adaptation. And I see exactly where this industry is headed. The challenge isn’t just about getting eVTOLs in the air it’s about public perception, regulations, and building an ecosystem that makes this technology work for everyone. The biggest disruptors are those who move before the crowd. So, here’s my question: Do you see air taxis as the next big thing, or are you still waiting for someone else to prove it? Let’s talk. #AirTaxi #eVTOL #FutureOfMobility #UrbanAirMobility #TechInnovation #TransportationRevolution #SmartCities #NextBigThing #DisruptTheNorm #FutureIsNow #Malaysia

* 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗦𝗸𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗟𝗶𝗺𝗶𝘁? This snapshot of the 𝗥𝗼𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮 𝗱𝗼 𝗜𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗼, a roundabout and pedestrian walkway that links four major roads near the Cotai Strip, was taken last week from a higher floor of the Macau University of Science and Technology. Looking at the busy roads and with the cacophony of traffic sounds that fill the air, I can’t help but wonder: Is there a market here for #AirTaxis, ferrying high-rollers around the casino town? Remember #TheJetsons, that old TV show portraying a family living in a futuristic metropolis? Their daily commute involved cars soaring through the sky. Well, that future might be closer than we think. Uber and Boeing are at the forefront of developing electric vertical take-off and landing (#eVTOL) flying taxis. These electric-powered vehicles promise a new form of urban transport unbridled by traditional roads. Picture a high-roller stepping out of a casino, summoning an air taxi, and zipping above the cityscape to their next destination. According to a recent report, by 2040, there could be a staggering 430,000 eVTOL vehicles in operation worldwide. Imagine a network of silent, emission-free flying taxis crisscrossing the skies, revolutionising how we move around the city. Next time you find yourself in #Macao, look out the windows and you might just see a fleet of air taxis weaving through the air. 🚁 —- We have lofty plans in the horizon: 𝗟𝗼𝘄-𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲 𝗘𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗼𝗺𝘆 is the topic for the June edition of OASA’s 𝗦𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲𝗕𝗶𝘇 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗸, which will be held on 22 June 2024. #OASA #SpaceBiz #HongKong #NewspaceEconomy #APNewspaceCommunity

Cars cost almost USD150,000 in Singapore*, so two familes could pool together and get a flying one?! 🙂 While this particular version took off at CES, it's far from the only one, and in 2024 Boeing stated ambitions to operate autonomous flying taxis in Asia by 2030. In-cabin car design is already a rich area for intuitive human-machine interaction and design. Bringing a whole new capability to cars, passengers, and crucially, drivers!!, will elevate its importance. Regulation has traditionally handled the issue of aviation safety (a key public concern), but multiple fields will have to step up to bring this to reality, whether widespread adoption is 5 (I'm sceptical) or 15 years out. Our work developing safety-critical, human-machine interfaces across healthcare, logistics, and other industries feels more relevant than ever now! Flying cars will change Chinese traffic in 6 years - is the infrastructure ready? China plans to have 100,000 flying cars buzzing around its cities by 2030, revolutionizing urban mobility with flying taxis, delivery vehicles, and even family transport. This ambitious goal could redefine how we think about traffic and logistics in urban environments. The big question is: when will be the right time to start preparing our infrastructure—airports, air traffic management, and regulatory frameworks—for this aerial transformation? How can we make the skies as organized as our roads. Are we ready for this future?
