Helping the Energy Majors navigate, embrace and profit from the global E n e r g y ⚡️ T r a n s i t i o n
Until the study’s completion, primarily only salt dome structures or caverns were assessed for safe, large-volume underground #hydrogen storage. Not all regions in the United States have the proper geological conditions for salt cavity storage. However, the success of SHASTA has more fully established the technical basis for using much larger capacities available in other non-salt-based subsurface environments, like porous subsurface rock found in depleted in oil and natural gas reservoirs, as well as the ability to reuse parts of existing natural gas storage infrastructure. The multi-year study also looked at technologies and tools available to reduce the operational risks associated with underground hydrogen storage in those systems and to develop technologies and tools that reduce those risks.

Here is an option for #Lithium ! Pennsylvania’s Fracking Wastewater Contains a ‘Shocking’ Amount of the Critical Clean Energy Mineral Lithium A new study estimated there is enough lithium in the state’s wastewater to meet up to 40 percent of domestic needs. But experts are concerned the discovery will be used to justify more fracking. In 2007, a geoscientist at Penn State named Terry Engelder calculated that Pennsylvania could be sitting on more than 50 trillion cubic feet of accessible natural gas deposits. Engelder later revised his calculation upward, to 489 trillion cubic feet, enough to meet U.S. natural gas demand for 18 years. These massive numbers set off the fracking boom in Pennsylvania, leading to drilling across the state. Since the rush began, there have been 13,000 unconventional wells drilled in Pennsylvania. https://lnkd.in/ghUqCkig

ALBERTA'S ENERGY PRODUCTION PICTURE JUST BECAME CLEARER, THANKS TO NEW PETRINEX NGL AND GAS VOLUME DATA... ...and at geoLOGIC systems ltd., we've been anticipating the release of the new data sets, which will bring remarkable and refreshing levels of transparency as to how the condensate composition of natural gas streams in liquids-rich major resource plays like Alberta's Montney and Duvernay are broken out and reported each month. Previously, the condensate composition was recombined with the total reported gas volumes and only producers with an interest in the well could access the broken-out data. But at geoLOGIC systems ltd. our efforts are bigger than just serving up "data" as others do; we've embedded the new insights into our geoLOGIC Data Centre (gDC) and in the process made it accessible to the workflows and decision-flows enabled by geoSCOUT utilities. There, it can be correlated to other data and insights by users keen to develop "bigger-picture" analysis in a solutions versus product context. What's critical to the utility of the new data is the insights it offers, both in the subsurface and "surface" realms. Not only does the breakdown of gas volumes reveal much about performance and reservoir characteristics at the individual well level, but such insights are also invaluable when it comes to economic valuations of many types. The data breakdowns, now available monthly, can also be used back-up for royalty analysis, including freehold calculations. Currently, the total energy values of gas are in gDC and will be available in geoSCOUT's next version. The new transparency is an important pivot in energy progress and process and comes from advocacy efforts by organizations like the Canadian Association of Petroleum Producers (CAPP) and Explorers and Producers Association of Canada (EPAC), along with key industry leaders like Marcel Preteau, CMC, PMP. It also is a critical factor in Alberta's global competitiveness. If you need a "Petrinex Primer" check out the collaborative platform shared by the four provinces in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin, via which data is served up in the public interest. https://www.petrinex.ca We're extremely proud at how adeptly our interdisciplinary teams worked with the data to get it customer-ready for immediate use. Data is not just data. It is what you do with the data that you unearth immense value. The new Petrinex NGL and Gas Volume data now available is made accessible to the workflows and decision-flows enabled by geoSCOUT from geoLOGIC Systems.
