VIETNAM VISA INFORMATION 25 nationalities can visit Vietnam without a visa for between 12 and 90 days for tourism or business. These are shown on the attached image. If you are one of these nationalities and want to stay longer, you can: • apply for other visa types from the Vietnamese Embassy in your home country. • apply for an e-visa that allows a 90-day stay and multiple entries. You can apply for another 90 day visa by leaving the country and reapply before returning to Vietnam. If you are from any country not listed for visa exemption, you can apply for an e-visa. E-visas restrict you to the entry and exit points you select when you apply. If you get an e-visa while in Vietnam, you must exit the country and re-enter to start your e-visa. To enter Vietnam, your passport must have: • an ‘expiry date’ at least 6 months after the date you arrive • at least 2 blank pages • no damage. If you overstay your visa or work illegally, the authorities can prevent you from leaving until you pay a fine. You could be deported and prevented from visiting Vietnam in the future.

It is a requirement under the Foreigners Act, 1946, and the Foreigners (Report to Police) Order, 1971. Guest houses, hotels, and other accommodations hosting foreign visitors must submit this form to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) or the local police station within 24 hours of the guest's arrival. Form C typically includes details such as: - Guest's name - Nationality - Passport and visa details - Date of arrival and departure - Address in India The purpose of Form C is to keep track of foreign nationals for security and administrative reasons. In India, the website to register Form C for foreign guests is the Bureau of Immigration's e-FRRO (e-Foreigners Regional Registration Office) portal. The length of stay for a foreign guest in India depends on the type of visa they have been issued. Generally: 1. **Tourist Visa (T Visa)**: Foreign tourists can stay for up to 90 or 180 days per visit, depending on the specifics of the visa granted. 2. **Business Visa (B Visa)**: This visa typically allows for stays up to 180 days per visit. 3. **Employment Visa (E Visa)**: Foreign nationals with employment visas can stay for the duration of their employment contract, usually up to one year, with the possibility of extension. 4. **Student Visa (S Visa)**: Students can stay for the duration of their course or up to five years. 5. **Medical Visa (M Visa)**: Patients can stay for the duration of their treatment, generally up to six months.

As the UK rolls out a requirement for US, European and other nationals to apply for an Electronic Travel Authorisation before traveling to the UK as a visitor, I am feeling nostalgic for the carefree travel I enjoyed as a teenager. I stopped in London on a Eurailing trip I took as an 18-year old American. Resting on the steps of the Eros fountain in Piccadilly circus, I struck up a conversation with other travellers: a pair of young women from Germany, a young Italian tourist and a Filipino man taking a world tour before settling down in his home country. We agreed to all meet up the next day. Only the Italian and I showed up. We had a great time touring London together and ended up dating for a short while. We are still in touch! Although I took the whole experience for granted at the time, it seems impossibly romantic to me now. The UK remains open to visitors, but is extending the requirement to obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) to all nationalities who can travel to the UK without a visa. ‘Non-visa nationals’ can currently travel to the UK as visitors without completing any forms in advance. The changes mean that all non-UK nationals will have to apply for and be granted an ETA or a visa before traveling to the UK: 🔺 From 5 March 2025, the ETA application process will open to EEA nationals travelling to the UK on or after 2 April 2025; and 🔺 From 27 November 2024, the ETA application process will open to all other non-visa nationals, who are not already subject to the ETA requirement, and who will be travelling to the UK on or after 8 January 2025.
