Dear LinkedIn, Yesterday morning at 07:31, tragedy struck. My personal mobile device took a nosedive from my bedside table as I heroically tried to turn off my alarm after being jolted from a deep, dreamy slumber. This device was my faithful sidekick for over two years, traveling across continents, sharing countless experiences, connecting me to my amazing family and friends, and capturing unforgettable moments. In that catastrophic moment, even though I had everything backed up (thank you, cloud storage), it felt like I had lost a limb. A lump formed in my throat as I realized just how emotionally and physically dependent I am on this little piece of tech. But here's the kicker: those 12 hours without my digital appendage gave me a shocking amount of perspective. During the great outage of July 2024, I spring-cleaned my entire home, scrubbing every corner and polishing my toaster until it sparkled like the crown jewels. Who knew I could be so productive without the constant ding of notifications? I'm actually grateful for this enlightening experience. It reminded me how good it feels to disconnect, even if just for a second. So, from now on, I'm going to make a conscious effort to do it more regularly. After all, if I can survive without my phone for 12 hours, imagine what I can achieve with a little more unplugged time. "But it says it's staying dry!", as the rain lashes down... ✋ The weather is an institution in the UK and I'd suggest, something about which any of us can, and do, hold regular conversations about, at least once daily. And yet...and yet, how often are we caught up in the sense of overcomplicating matters, defaulting to what we believe to be more sophisticated tools to help guide us in our decision-making, when perhaps if we just looked around us, properly, the information we are seeking might just be there in front of us. #lookup #keepitsimple
