RAG series Topic - Get answers to your questions from your documents Solution / Current craze - RAG ( retrieval augmented generation) Traditional search relies on terms and rules put together. LLMs can answer your questions but if you want an answer from your enterprise knowledge base like sharepoint, the current models/ LLMs are not there yet. This is where RAG come in. Setup: Take your knowledge base, divide into parts, convert each part into a vector (series of numbers) and store in a vector database Prime time: 1. Now a question comes in from a user, take the question and convert into a vector. 2. Find top 5 or 10 parts from the setup earlier from your knowledge base that is close to this question vector 3. Send the question, the 5 or 10 parts to an LLM with an instruction to generate an answer from the relevant parts That’s it! In the next post, I am going to talk about challenges ingesting the knowledge base. Stay tuned!
