#EverybodyLovesChris #GoldenThread #SupplierDiversity Yesterday (26.09.24) I had the pleasure of attending an #InviteOnly event hosted by my dear friend ‘Doyley’ aka Chris Doyle from McConnell Group, and wow 🤩 An 0830am prompt start [and I was warned not to be late; you know how we fashionistas do sometimes!] anyway, after a few bearhugs including that from 'the man' like Patrick Sweeney and a fabulous ‘Full English’ breakfast, the discussions were primed to begin. In the unfortunate absence of fellow Pannelist Petronila O., I agreed to step into the hot-seat at the last-minute request of Doyley. So with no time to prepare I decided to ‘freestyle’ on my #knowledge and interpretation of the #BuildingSafetyAct #GoldenThread and the challenges of #GW2 [aka Gateway 2 applications]. Sat alongside #legalese extraordinaire John Forde / Trowers & Hamlins [yes, Rebecca Rees was there too!] I was perched in between the architectural legend Andrew Mellor / PRP and industry #thoughtleader and #BSA practitioner Paul McClelland. The amazing and fully engaging #client-led audience were supplied with a seamless, deep, but #plainlanguage conversation on the intricacies of the #GW2 process. Amongst other things, I was happy to remind all about the ‘rigid’ change control procedure and in support of better #residentengagement, articulate the dire need to create more #socialvalue by engaging #youngpeople; just as we are doing at the Digital Twin Skills Academy CIC Clearly it’s still early days, but I’ve never been more excited (or optimistic) about the future of the UK #construction sector to ‘positively disrupt’ itself and create better value-based outcomes, using #digitalconstruction. In a post-#Grenfell environ, progressive construction firms like #McConnell will continue to lead and align themselves with great industry professionals who fully ‘overstand’ the ‘traditional’ construction process. This is where greater #collaboration and #transparency will deliver better #InformationManagement which will ultimately lead to a wider adoption of process, system and asset level #DigitalTwin solutions; that [ideally] use the #PPC2000 form of contract 😉 _ watch this space!
