Thatchers Cider Company Ltd’s Post

Wow – what a week! Our feet have finally touched the ground after all the celebrations. On Friday night we wassailed the Thatchers orchards, continuing a centuries old tradition that ensures a bountiful harvest for the year ahead. There was revelry and merriment as the Mendip Morris and Green Man joined Thatchers friends and family in singing, dancing, banging sticks, hanging toast and most importantly, pouring cider, all in the name of scaring away the bad spirits and welcoming the good ones for a prosperous year ahead. Wassail (waes hail) translates into modern English as ‘good health’ and was often followed by a call of ‘drinc hail’ meaning ‘drink well’. So, we wish all our followers ‘waes hail’ and invite you to join us in a cider toast 🍎🍻.
