#CandidateSpotlight Kristen H. knows a bit about staffing firms. She’s used staffing firms for most of her placements in the medical billing and insurance industries. Some of the jobs were great, and others were just OK. When she was planning a move to Indianapolis, she reached out to That’s Good HR to find out what was available. That’s when she discovered the TGHR difference. “When I went and met with That’s Good HR, I noticed it was a little different,” Kristen recalls. “Some of the other firms are very generic – you go in, they tell you to call every week. Usually, you have to hunt them down.” That’s Good HR soon illustrated that the company is people-focused and truly believes good staffing matters. Kristen was called back within a couple of days and interviewed with a company that hired her right away. It was a good fit, until the company started to outsource Kristen’s department. Kristen, by then a new mom, asked That’s Good HR if she could work through them again. She was welcomed back and matched with a local medical company on a temp-to-hire basis. This was during the Covid pandemic shutdown, but within about 18 months, Kristen was hired permanently. Since then, Kristen has earned several promotions, seeing a salary increase of about $30,000 annually. Her daughter is now 5 years old, and the new company lives up to its commitment to a flexible work/life balance. Kristen works remotely, and she has the flexibility to step away for a school event or tend to other parental duties. She’s met other people who came to the company through That’s Good HR, and they have confirmed her experience. “I noticed that it wasn’t just a ‘me’ experience,” Kristen says. “Other people were having a similar experience with That’s Good HR, which told me that they were doing what they say they’re going to do.” Are you looking for your next great position? Or, are you an employer who needs great employees whose experience and skillset are a perfect fits for your opening? HR TIP: GIVE AND SERVE NOTICE BEFORE YOU RESIGN Some jobseekers often believe that stating immediate availability for a job impresses recruiters. However, well-established organizations value proper notice to mitigate operational disruptions caused by sudden departures. I always encourage job seekers to leave things in order before they join another company. If the organization you are about to join cannot withstand a mere four-week notice period, then there is a significant problem. If you're the best fit for a position, your prospective employer should be able to wait for you. On the other hand, some employees leave suddenly without notice with the idea of "fixing" their supervisors or the organization. While it is true that sudden departure will cause disruption in a department or the organisation, this will be just for a short period. Sometimes, some people make the mistake of thinking that departments or organisations will collapse when they leave but the truth is that no one is indispensable. Just think about it, how many organisations have collapsed since you left them? In fact, in some cases, "better" people are found to replace us while we deceive ourselves that the companies we decide leave will struggle without us. If you are leaving employment suddenly because the work environment is unbearable, then that's a different matter altogether. Otherwise, give and serve your notice. Mundia Mundia

𝐕𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐮𝐧𝐟𝐚𝐢𝐫, 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐬𝐨 𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐞 HR – what is your notice period? Candidate – 30 days HR – Is it negotiable? Candidate – No, my current employer won't accept to release before 30 days HR – Sorry we are looking for someone who can join within 15 days. Candidate – okay, may I ask a question? HR – Sure!! Go ahead. Candidate – Could you please tell me the notice period of your company? HR – 60 days Candidate – So, if someone resigns from your company and would want to leave within 15 days, will you accept?? HR – Not at all, Candidate – But why? HR – We would require time to search for a new employee, and the outgoing employee must hand over all the training and documents to the new employee. Candidate – So why would you require a candidate to join early if you cannot allow the existing employee to leave early? 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧 1. Rigid notice period expectations may drive away qualified candidates, leading to a loss of top talent who may choose to pursue opportunities elsewhere. 2. Sometimes, focusing on hiring who is available to join on immediate basis can result in poor hiring decisions, leading to selecting a mismatched candidate, which can ultimately affect team performance and overall productivity. 3. If candidates feel that HR policies are inconsistent or unreasonable, even when finally hired, they may leave soon after joining, leading to higher turnover rates, poor company reputation in the job market, and associated costs. #Hiring #TalentAcquisition #Recruitment #EmployeeEngagement #CompanyCulture #HRStrategy #WorkplaceDynamics #Productivity #JobMarket #CandidateExperience #HumanResources #WorkplaceFairness #TalentManagement #EmployeeRetention #NkesiKevin #ImpactAcademy

How many open positions are you trying to fill? I meet with 3-5 businesses a week that all have at least 15 open positions they're struggling to fill. Many have well over 25 open positions. And their HR/Recruiting team is tired. Why are they tired? Isn't this their job? Not exactly... Recruiting professionals need to spend their time sourcing the right candidates and focusing on getting those individuals to have a conversation about what's possible. They often lose valuable time sorting through profiles and applicants that aren't a good fit or simply hit "apply all" on a job source page. HR professionals often get caught in the recruiting process with the rest of their HR responsibilities internally getting put on the back burner until open positions are effectively filled. Then the real job starts to get those employees onboarded. What if there was a way to source better candidates, stop wasting your time, talk to the right people, and get your open positions filled faster with the right people? If this sounds like it's worth 10 minutes of your time to find out more, send me a DM and let's chat. #recruting #HCM #payroll #HR

🔆 thought for today - As HR professionals, it is our moral duty to circle back with every candidate who has interviewed with us. Each candidate has invested time, money, and effort, and has come with the hope of joining our organization. We should connect with them the very next day to provide constructive feedback, allowing them to improve for future opportunities. This respectful and considerate approach not only helps candidates grow but also upholds our commitment to a fair and transparent hiring process.
