Fort Worth Education Partnership's latest report highlights the city’s urgent challenges in schools. Only 35% of Fort Worth students are meeting grade-level standards, and more than half are unable to read at grade level. This isn’t just a school issue; it’s a citywide crisis with serious implications for the future workforce and community. FWEP is dedicated to addressing these challenges, but it’s clear that collective action is needed to make a real difference. At City Fund, we are proud to support FWEP and other organizations that are making meaningful changes in their cities. #Education #FortWorth #CommunityImpact 📰: https://bit.ly/3SNlBwV

Today, the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI) publishes a new report titled ‘Embracing Diversity in all its Forms’: The Voluntary Secondary Sector in Irish Education, by Selina McCoy, Eamonn Carroll and Keyu Ye. Voluntary secondary schools, accounting for over half of all second-level schools, are privately owned and managed but are largely publicly funded schools, usually under the patronage of a religious community, a charitable trust or a private charitable company. 🏫 Students, regardless of attending single-sex or coeducational schools, favoured coeducational settings 📚 Gender differences persist in the subjects available to students, subject choice, and if subjects are perceived as interesting or difficult. 🗣 Only a small minority of students find learning Irish interesting, raising implications for the national language. 📊 Life satisfaction levels also varied widely, being somewhat lower among girls, students with additional needs and those from economically vulnerable families. Social Entrepreneur (Social Impact + Technology + Entrepreneurship). I work with individuals, organizations and governments to drive social, economic and environmental development through policy, research, and practice
Today, being the International Day of Education, we are reminded of the role education plays in promoting peace and development in the world. As an education leader and advocate who has worked at grassroots for years, I can fully attest to the transformative power of education and its importance in achieving sustainable development. In line with the theme for this year “Learning for Lasting Peace”, we must all know that we all have individual roles to play especially for children in their early years. I celebrate changemakers (individuals and organizations) around the world championing education for all children in all places. On a day like this also, we are also reminded of the millions of children in conflict affected areas, whose education is on hold and educators who have stayed resilient in these situations. Take action: volunteer your time, donate educational resources, raise awareness and drive positive change. PS: What action are you taking to support access to quality education? 📷 Online #internationaldevelopment #education #qualityeducationforall #theirworld #unlockbigchange

Word Made Flesh International is dedicated to the flourishing of youth in vulnerable neighborhoods. We start by creating a safe space for the kids where we offer healthy meals, healthy relationships, access to therapy, and the possibility to play. Once a safe space is established, we see children capable of learning. Our Community Centers are designed to support the youth's learning by addressing their financial and social challenges such as helping them cover school fees, acquire school supplies, uniforms, and books, providing after school tutoring, and one-on-one educational support. Why is education so important in the prevention of further vulnerability and exploitation of kids in impoverished communities? Education is a powerful tool in breaking the cycle of poverty. By providing children with the skills needed for jobs, education offers increased opportunities for families and reduces the economic pressures that often lead to exploitation. Education leads to major impact in the lives of youth, and so we need to continue to empower them to realize their dreams and potential. Educational support doesn't stop at the end of the school year. We continue to provide alternative education throughout the summer break through daily activities at the community centers and summer camps. Please consider donating to support the ongoing educational support for these aspiring young leaders throughout the year! #WordMadeFlesh #educationimpacts

Ensuring equal opportunity in education requires a comparative examination of public and private schools in the U.S., where access to quality education shapes future opportunities and outcomes for students. While both sectors strive to provide academic excellence, they often differ in funding, resources, and educational approaches. Public schools, funded by government sources, aim to serve all students regardless of socioeconomic status, offering a diverse range of programs and support services. In contrast, private schools, funded through tuition and donations, may offer specialized curricula and smaller class sizes but may not be accessible to all due to financial constraints. By understanding the strengths and limitations of each sector, policymakers and educators can work towards bridging the gap in educational equity, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive and succeed, regardless of their background or circumstances. 🏫📚 . . . . . 🎓📚 Quality education for ALL #students is a constitutional responsibility of the US states. However, Florida schools currently need more teachers 👩🏫👨🏫 and bus drivers 🚌 and are significantly underfunded 💸. This year, #Florida ranked last in the nation for average teacher pay 🥇⬇️. These issues demonstrate that the state needs to invest more in public K-12 schools. Underfunded teachers can't provide marginalized students with the tools for quality #education. This fact impacts young students in marginalized communities who lack access to resources available to their more economically privileged counterparts. Voices of Florida is organizing its yearly Backpack Drive 🎒 to provide essential learning materials to students in underserved communities. This drive aims to ensure that students from disadvantaged backgrounds have access to educational resources and feel included in the classroom. Voices of Florida believes that students perform better when they start the school year with the confidence that comes from having new and engaging school supplies ✏️📖. 🡆 DONATE HERE: https://lnkd.in/erjD-ryA

Typically, few families will balk at a slight tuition increase but could react negatively to a heftier increase if your reasoning is not well thought out, prepared for well in advance of an announcement, and announced to the school community at least one to two months ahead of re-enrollment time.
