Day two of our Winter Programme has started with fabulous presentations from scholars across our Sheffield Urbanism PhD community. We've had the chance to hear from cutting-edge research being undertaken by these rising stars - on the conditions and experiences shaping urban lives in cities around the world. From Gaza, Bali, London, Sheffield, Dakar and Sao Paolo, we've heard intimate and rich stories from the field of how people are inhabiting different places and spaces, what shapes their experiences and how this is impacted by wider processes of governance and decision-making at multiple scales. It's been humbling and inspiring in equal measure. One of our presenters was Aicha Diallo, 3rd year PhD student in the Urban Institute, School of Geography and Planning and School of Architecture and Landscape University of Sheffield, University of Sheffield - talking in this clip about her research and what it is like being part of the Sheffield Urbanism community. The University of Sheffield, Krzysztof Nawratek, Tom Goodfellow, Beth Perry, Madeleine Pill, Jonathan D Silver, Vanesa Castan Broto

Always good to see the The Academy of Urbanism (AoU)'s quarterly journal published. This time reflecting on 25 years from the #Urban #Task #Force's seminal report 'Towards an Urban Renaissance'. And with a new 'New Towns' Task Force in play, it's super useful to hear from people involved at the time who consider their experience, the reports efficacy, and what if anything would change should our young leaders be asked a similar question.
