Are you growing or scaling? Well that depends what stage your business is in. There are 3 stages in the lifestyle of every business. Infancy (Start up stage) Adolescence (When the company experiences growth spurts) Maturity ( company is stable, effective, and efficient) When you're company is in it's infancy stage, you (the owner) Need to be very hands on. You must be active in every part of the business. You are the one growing the business. But... To successfully enter the Adolescence stage, You must learn to delegate. Roles must be defined and appointed. You must start bringing in the right people. You must build a foundation that your company can stand on. And THAT is called scaling. In the first stage, you are growing. To get into the second stage, you must scale. Stay tuned for why adult businesses die! The one thing I wish I had known when I started my business. I learned everything from my mistakes. Not the smartest way to learn to be honest. Check out this pic: I’m wiped out, signing the exit after 6 months of intense due diligence. We pulled it off, defying the odds. Still, I often wonder what I could have done differently. That list keeps growing, day by day. My mistakes are like an album of greatest hits. Picking just one is tough. But if I had to pick up the number 1 hit single, it's this: Own Your Numbers! - Numbers don't lie > they're brutally honest friends. Check on them regularly. - Numbers talk > make them the basis for your growth and exit strategy.   - Numbers are no joke > cashflow kills many businesses. Embrace your numbers. Let them guide you. I could have given up. 🙅♂️ There were (and still are) times in my business when I felt like giving up. Including things inside my business and those outside, that I had 😱 no control over.
