Nearly half of #Medicare beneficiaries didn't visit a dentist in 2019 -- most of them citing as a factor. As #AEP comes to a close, here's some options to explore: ~Many #MedicareAdvantage plans include a preventive and/or comprehensive dental benefit. Availability is dependent on service area. ~Clients may be eligible through an employer-sponsored plan, employer-sponsored retiree plan, or through #Medicaid. ~Your clients always can choose a dental #HMO, dental #PPO, or a discount dental plan. Many of these policies can be enrolled in year-round.

Amid a shortage of primary care physicians, some states (including Michigan), allow pharmacists to prescribe some drugs under test-to-treat guidelines -- e.g. -- if you test positive for strep throat, the pharmacist can order a prescription on the spot. #Healthinsurance in some states is catching up, as carriers start expanding coverage for this service. It's critically important clients check their coverage before they hit up local pharmacists --- not every carrier treats this scenario identically.

Uninsured patient treatment drives #healthcare costs and #healthinsurance premiums. Priority Health is partnering with Curai Health to offer free virtual visits for uninsured Michiganders through 2024. The duo hopes to reduce emergent services trips, which get costly for everyone. If successful, it will extend into 2025.

Randrodamus strikes again. At our AEP/OEP summit, Randall Lobur predicted that slashed reimbursement rates, increased MLRs, and the Part D Redesign would force #MedicareAdvantage carriers to reduce service areas. And lo, verily, Cigna is shrinking its footprint in eight states next year. This is on top of Humana leaving several markets, too.

New U.S. Census Bureau data suggests uninsured rates stabilized early in 2023, but that came with a huge caveat: the #Medicaid unwinding started mid 2022. We likely won't know its full impact until 2026. However, many folks who have recently lost Medicaid need #Marketplace coverage or another solution this fall.

The #InflationReductionAct might help consumers' pocketbooks, but it's also narrowing standalone #Medicare prescription drug plans choices. The number of standalone plans shrunk by 12% last year, partly because of the $35 insulin cap. Nearly half of low-income enrollees lost their benchmark status -- forcing them to find other subsidy- eligible plans. #healthinsurance
