International Women's Day (IWD) has a rich history dating back to the early 20th century. Here's a brief overview: 1. Early Beginnings (1908-1910): The origins of IWD can be traced back to the labor movement and women's strikes in the early 20th century. On March 8, 1908, a group of 15,000 women marched through New York City, demanding better working conditions, shorter hours, and voting rights. 2. First National Women's Day (1910): The idea of an annual International Women's Day was formalized during the International Women's Conference held in Copenhagen in 1910. Clara Zetkin, a German socialist, proposed the idea of an International Women's Day to promote equal rights and suffrage for women around the world. 3. March 8th Adoption (1913-1914): The first International Women's Day was celebrated on March 19, 1911, in several European countries. However, in 1913 and 1914, March 8th became the official date for International Women's Day, and it has been recognized on this day ever since. 4. Suffragette Movement:During the early 20th century, International Women's Day became closely linked with the global women's suffrage movement. Women used the day to advocate for their right to vote, work, and hold public office. 5. United Nations Recognition (1977): The United Nations officially recognized International Women's Day in 1977, and since then, it has become a global day of celebration and activism. 6. Evolution and Themes: Over the years, International Women's Day has evolved to encompass a wide range of issues affecting women, including gender equality, reproductive rights, violence against women, and more. Each year, there is a specific theme highlighting a particular aspect of women's rights. Today, International Women's Day is celebrated worldwide, with events ranging from rallies and discussions to cultural performances and exhibitions, all aimed at promoting gender equality and raising awareness about women's rights.

As we celebrate Women’s History Month, I am filled with immense gratitude for the extraordinary women leaders who have influenced and guided me throughout my career. Their unwavering dedication, brilliance, and resilience have not only shaped my professional journey but have also inspired me to strive for excellence in all aspects of my life. Women leaders bring a unique perspective and invaluable contributions to the workforce, driving innovation, fostering diversity, and creating inclusive environments where everyone can thrive. Their presence and influence have a profound impact on shaping the future of industries and organizations worldwide. Our Women Leading at Crowe is such a great example of this, and I am so proud to surround myself with so many looking to make a true impact not just at work - but in the world around them. Women’s History Month serves as a powerful reminder of the remarkable achievements and contributions of women throughout history. It is a time to honor the trailblazers who have shattered glass ceilings, challenged societal norms, and paved the way for future generations of women to dream big and achieve their aspirations. Let us take this opportunity to celebrate the achievements of women leaders, acknowledge the progress that has been made, and recommit ourselves to advancing gender equality in the workplace and beyond. Together, we can create a more equitable and inclusive world where every individual has the opportunity to reach their full potential. #WomenLeaders #WomensHistoryMonth #GenderEquality #Inclusion #Diversity #Empowerment #Vote #GoCrowe

A new day and soon a new government with 40% women MPs and hopefully more women in the cabinet 🥳 Whilst we celebrate this milestone at The Partnership Colllective we must not be complacent. We must keep the pressure on ➡️ Prioritise the green transition and economy ➡️ Prioritise just and equitable policies especially on big business and finance ➡️ Invest in public services ➡️ Prioritise equality and equity for all people ➡️ Be a leading soft power on the international stage calling for end of conflicts, increasing humanitarian aid and climate action #change #politics #Labour
A historic milestone for women, with all signs pointing towards more than 40% women MPs - that’s 260 (the most ever) women in parliament! So many women over so many years have worked for this, and we are beyond delighted that we've reached this new achievement for women's representation. This is a huge victory for all of us who have pushed for fair and equal representation. At the Fawcett Society, we will continue to champion equality and ensure every woman’s voice is heard in Parliament and beyond. Let's keep pushing for full equality! 💪 #FawcettSociety #GeneralElection #Equality
