Hip Dysplasia affects all large dog breeds and causes debilitating arthritis if not prevented with early detection. A simple PennHip x-ray from as young as 16 weeks of age can detect hip dysplasia, and a simple procedure called Juvenile Pubic Symphysodesis (JPS) can be performed to "tighten" the hip joints and reduce the chances of arthritis in later life.
