The Japanese Space Exploration Agency (JAXA) recently uncovered zero-day attacks while investigating a 2023 cyberattack on its systems with Microsoft. The breach, initiated through unauthorized access to Microsoft 365, primarily targeted JAXA's Active Directory but fortunately did not compromise sensitive data related to rockets or satellite operations. Enhanced monitoring and security measures have since been implemented to prevent future incidents. Despite the attackers gaining some personal information, JAXA ensured that no classified information was leaked.
