The Maldives government has announced a ban on Israeli tourists due to growing public sentiment over the situation in Gaza. President Mohamed Muizzu declared the ban on Israeli passports and launched a fundraising campaign, "Maldivians in Solidarity with Palestine." Last year, 11,000 Israelis visited the Maldives, but numbers significantly decreased this year. Opposition parties and government allies pressured Muizzu for the ban. An Israeli foreign ministry spokesman advised Israelis in the Maldives to consider leaving. The ban aligns with the Maldives' stance on international policy.
