Happy Monday! Breakfast for Your Mind: So grateful to be alive this morning! 449p. I-295 Northbound. 70-75 mph. The car in front of me ran over a semi-tractor-trailer tire remnant. I saw the large flap of metal-threaded rubber tire fly right toward me. And there was nothing I could do but watch it break its trajectory, stop in slow-motion, and crack my windshield. Grateful the glass did not shatter and was strong enough to protect me from the flying debris. I would have been decapitated otherwise. Those semi tractor-trailer tires, by the way, are threaded with metal. They can become weapons lying around on the highways and interstates and can become a matter of life and death. The roads are one place that cleanliness is a must. With Florida being a no-fault state, what then happens to accountability and where does it fall? If I had died, what would have come of this case? I hope that one day, we no longer have to wait for fatalities to manifest prior to getting anything done as a community. Holistic Wellness isn’t just about nutrition. It’s about the interconnectedness of everything in life. And death. . Do this several times, each time a little bit longer. What you're telling your dog is that you always come back. So his anxiety over being abandoned or being afraid should begin to disappear. Many times your dog is just lonely. When you and your family leave the house for the day, the silence is deafening. So he will look for other ways to break the stillness. Barking is his first instinct. He may think that barking will bring him some attention. If he has nothing else to do this might work for him. In this case, scatter his favorite toys around. Buy him some chew toys or something else to keep him busy. One of the most important things you can do to stop your dog from barking is exercise. If he knows that when you get home it's play time, he has something to look forward to that he can count on. Normal exercise time for a dog is 30-45 minutes a day. If he is a bigger dog make that twice a day.

We are now in the darkest days of winter and self-care is important even if that’s just getting one thing done a day. TIPS: Shower. Not a bath. Use water as hot or cold as you like. Let it run over you for as long as you want. Moisturize your body. Use whatever lotion that makes you feel good. Drink cold water. Use ice. Add some mint or lemon for a boost. Delicious. Clean something small or organize a drawer of a desk or wardrobe. Blast music which is upbeat. Sing to it, dance to it and enjoy moving your body. Make food. Take time to prepare it as it tastes way better, and you’ll feel like you accomplished something. Make something. Create. Write a short story or a poem, draw a picture or colour a picture. Go outside. Take a walk. Keep warm. Listen to the birds or search out new buds. Call someone. Call a loved one or a friend. If you can’t bring yourself to call, text or email. Cuddle your pets if you have them and can cuddle them. Lastly, look at the window at about 4.45pm and see that it is staying lighter a touch longer. May seem small or silly things to some, but this is part of self-care in winter. Find something to be grateful for and know that you are loved beyond measure. #selfcare #feelingbetter #coping #SAD #anxiety #winterblues #coping

It was the warmest day of the year yesterday in Nottingham at 26 degrees and today is also going to be hot. I have walked my dogs early as usual to avoid the heat. It is 18 degrees here and OK for some exercise for dogs. Some tips for keeping dogs safe in hot weather. Walking your dog in the early morning or late in the evening when temperatures are cooler will reduce their risk of heatstroke. Be particularly careful if your dog is old, overweight or suffers from breathing difficulties. Do the five-second tarmac test –Tarmac can get very hot in the sun and could burn your dog’s paws. Check the pavement with your hand before letting your dog walk on it – hold your hand down for five seconds, if it's too hot for you, then it's too hot for your dog's paws. Don't let them get burnt – Keep your dog out of direct sunlight where you can. Use pet-safe sun cream on exposed parts of your dog’s skin, like the tips of their ears and nose. Don't take them out in cars and never leave them in cars...they are like tin cans and heat up quickly. Don't throw balls for them when it's over 20 degrees as it exhausts them.

You cannot prevent the birds of sorrow from flying over your head, but you can prevent them from building nests in your hair." - Chinese Proverb If you attach yourself to the sorrow, continue to think all of the negative thoughts it brought about, repeat the patterns of your past, dwell in the pain, and bemoan your bad luck, you allow the nest to be built. If you pause, breathe, give yourself a moment to reset, and choose a balanced response, you send the birds flying off into the distance. The choice is yours... #Sarbrandhawa #TheBetterBlueprint Subscribe today: https://lnkd.in/dP3SthZ4
