The ILO and the Government of Canada have joined forces to strengthen freedom of association and action against child labour in the Philippines.   A new project, Strengthening freedom of association and action against child labour in the Philippines promotes enforcement of international labour standards. It will focus on strengthening freedom of association and the right to organize. It will also boost the country’s efforts to keep children out of child labour and in school. http://bit.ly/iloesdc

A great initiative launched by the ILO. According the article, since Oct 7, there has been an estimated DAILY labour income LOSS of US$16 million in the Occupied Palestinian Territory. “Even prior to the current conflict, the situation in the Gaza Strip, blockaded since 2006, was particularly dire. Gazans have long grappled with persistently high rates of poverty, vulnerability and one of the highest unemployment rates in the world, which stood at 46.4 per cent in the second quarter of 2023.” 💬My thoughts: 💸 Knowing the billions that have been pumped into destroying Gaza, a mere $20 million US is nothing to help rebuild it for its working class people. 💡Working in Occupational Health, we know the impact of work and well-being on health. It is good to see organizations stepping up to protect and rebuild the workforce. 💪This means two things: 1. we know this conflict will end and 2. giving people their human right to work is a priority.

Labour conditions development pivotal for sustainable growth #Bangladesh lags behind in sustainable practices #Economists recommended that Bangladesh needs for aligning labour laws with international standards especially in the context of LDC graduation, investigation into labour law compliance and enforcement, research on labour branding and international trade, technology's role in labour conditions. #They also endorsed for in-depth study of informal sector labour conditions, economic analysis of wage structures, reforming labour unions, establishing effective dispute resolution mechanisms, clarifying labour definitions and roles, and revising wage adjustment policies. https://lnkd.in/gkv53XSq
