Future+ kindly shared our future presentation that we delivered last year. One of the big areas to focus on in 2024 is creative talent - specifically - creators. In 2023 - we saw huge shifts in the way social media platforms started rewarding creators and Web3 ecosystems introduced on-chain media. Brands that embraced this (Nike, Gucci, Puma, etc. ) are all benefiting from early experiments in the open web. As creators shift more toward that ecosystem, that game changes. Brands should be prepared for this or they lose their foothold on social media platforms. I look forward to seeing more progressive leaders step forward and start experimenting this year. 🚀

Following my research, I found Meta Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement for 2023. Despite this discovery, it seems that such criminal activities persist, and individuals who report and condemn them are criticized for exposing the widespread Labour Exploitation and Modern Day Slavery permitted on their platform, along with numerous other criminal activities. In our work with founders, a frequent question is “how do I get tech press coverage for our fundraise / launch / milestone?” In my own experience – in dozens of interviews during my roles at Slack, Twitter, for #ANGELS and now Adverb Ventures – engaging with journalists can be a force multiplier for companies already under the spotlight. But for early-stage founders the question remains as to how to break through in an incredibly noisy ecosystem in the first place? That’s why we asked two friends to dinner to share some real talk with founders: Aaron Zamost (who led Comms at Square through hypergrowth) and Lauren Goode, senior writer at WIRED who recently moved to the business reporting desk after years of writing about the technology sector. My biggest takeaway from the evening: it all starts with compelling storytelling, and like all things, empathy for the person on the other side of the table (in this case, a reporter). It turns out that reporters are humans, too – understanding their interests and how to develop the kind of rapport that results in the press founders dream of is a long game. As Intel published our 30th annual corporate social responsibility report today, its a good time to reflect on our progress with disability inclusion and how disability insights create better products. It's a tall-order, but we need to continue shifting the narrative on disability in the workplace from compliance to strategic imperative. When you live in a world that was not designed for you, you learn to think creatively to overcome barriers.
