People are saying Hong Kong has had a tough job year. I disagree... Yes, the job market is slightly down compared to usual. In fact, a lot of my clients in the PR space have had to diversify their portfolios and become bit more 'non-specialised' in their niche to keep the business afloat. But hiring is still happening. It is just more competitive than usual as it remains a client-driven market this quarter. What does that mean? Companies still have the upper-hand when it comes to hiring and you have to be the best of the best to secure a job. What does that mean for a candidate? The bare minimum won't cut it (LinkedIn easy apply - I'm looking at you). In a client-driven market, even though there's jobs out there, you don't have the prerogative to be picky and slacking off. I've placed in excess of 30 PR and Communications professionals in Hong Kong and Singapore this year from an Account Executive level to Managing Director of a firm. The market is still moving; it requires an active push for you to make it happen. Reach out to me for a confidential discussion on your hiring needs or if you're looking for that next opportunity. Entering the Japanese market? Get ready to navigate a uniquely challenging hiring landscape 🇯🇵 Here's 4 must-knows for recruitment: 🌟 Extreme supply/demand imbalance - low unemployment, aging workforce, preference for legacy firms. Must get creative! 🌟 Job satisfaction is low - long hours, pressure, burnout. Opportunity to stand out as an employer of choice. 🌟 Compliance hiring is tough - many legal candidates aren't interested in compliance roles long-term. 🌟 English skills lacking but critical for global firms. Shrinks small pool further alongside other needs. With only ~28 qualified candidates per role, who you hire defines your success. Technical Recruiter @ DigitalOcean🐬| Hiring Talent in USA, India, Pakistan, Canada, UAE, Europe & Mexico | Global Talent Acquisition | Headhunter | Sourcer | BS | MBA | AI & ML Enthusiast
Imagine living in North Korea. You think you are the most powerful and developed country. Not knowing there's a better life out there. You are in your own bubble, You are "Unconsciously Unaware". As someone from talent acquisition, I often come across similar phenomena. There exists some talent which doesn't know their worth, doesn't have a clear vision about career paths, and doesn't know how many better opportunities exist. Part of my job is to EVALUATE the candidate. If the candidate is aware of his/her worth, and shows some interest in the job. It's easy path from there. Evaluate --- and decide. The situation where candidates don't know their worth, and they rather don't show a signal of interest in the job, It gets tough. Convince, -- Evaluate -- and decide. Which is more work for a recruiter and technically a recruiter would only convince someone who has cleared the evaluation stage. I remember not pursuing some candidates due to same. They unknowingly said NO to global opportunity, paying 4 times their salary, and a long term growth prospect. As someone in the job market, always keep your CURIOSITY alive. If a recruiter approaches you, show interest, and at least get to know about the opportunity. You can refuse if you don't like it. You never know, which opportunity will turn out to be your dream job. #talentacquisition #jobseekers #jobmarket #hiringtalents

Hi, my network. Today I am proud to announce that Careerbility renew our HP 🌟 [Vision Update] 🌟 As we reach a new milestone in our third fiscal year, Careerbility has decided to take the helm in earnest toward Purpose Management. This decision was made because of the many inspirations we have gained from the changes and challenges we have witnessed in the Japanese manufacturing industry, as well as the trials and learnings we have faced ourselves. These experiences reaffirmed for us the importance of providing value beyond simply placing talent. 🚀Why Purpose Management Now--🚀? In the course of our management, we discovered a small but profound value that goes beyond the simple pursuit of profit. We chose to deepen our contribution to society with the clear intention of "connecting Japanese manufacturing to the future. Around the same time we founded our company, we met with numerous semiconductor industry professionals as Japan's semiconductor industry rode a wave of massive investment and attraction. These experiences convinced us that even a small organization could play an important role in contributing to the Japanese manufacturing industry. This conviction was a strong motivator for us to steer toward Purpose Management and our determination to provide greater value. To mark this important turning point, we completely redesigned our website. The new website is designed to more clearly communicate our Purpose, our vision, and our commitment to the future. Please visit our 🔗new website: https://lnkd.in/gq_Yt9T2 CEO Aki Nagashi and Yuki Amemiya

"I just need to close the deal, I don't know why the candidate is so difficult and just accept without asking too much. " Maybe he/she is difficult because it's not what they want you idi@t! Once, during my career, 1 year before my returning to Japan... an ex-boss recommended lying to a candidate because we needed that he accepted an offer that wasn’t good at all. She literally said, “Please convince the guy by telling him that you don’t get any kind of commission from this.” I thought to myself, if she can do this to a candidate, she probably did it to me as well. In the end, I was honest with the candidate, and I don’t regret it. We are still in touch even when I dont work for that kind of technology anymore. Recruiters play an important role in the lives of candidates, acting as the main bridge between potential and new job opportunities. Their influence goes beyond matching resumes to different clients. A good recruiter recognizes a candidate's strengths and, more importantly, their motivations. Candidates are people with interests, families, and worries – not just a money exchange for clients-. Even if your company has that kind of behivour, dont forget your values.
