There’s definitely some truth in this but it’s not as absolute as many may think. We’ve had a number of hires who had been working for remote companies and were frustrated by the lack of culture. Especially early career, it’s a big plus to be able to have people who can mentor you or just make it feel like you are part of something. I think the more accurate version is that people have a variety of preferences and location is a big factor that draws passionate responses both ways. And preferences seem to be very different across job families and experience levels. That said, anytime the status quo changes dramatically like this you will have a lot of disgruntled employees so it is a wise recruiting approach.

1st employees have an incredible influence on the culture of a business. They build the foundation of it, for better or worse. Not enough founders consider this when hiring the early team. Remember: hire not just for skills and experience, but also fit and contribution.

A question we get asked alot is "How do we make sure new hires fit in without messing up the flow of the team?" it's a brilliant question and I find It’s all about making sure everyone’s on the same page right from the start. A new hire can bring great energy to the team, but it helps if they understand how the team works together first. Another thing that works well is figuring out how everyone prefers to work. If the new person knows the team’s rhythm and communication style, they’ll find their place without disrupting anything. And giving the team a chance to understand the new hire’s strengths can go a long way. Finally, don’t forget those regular check-ins. They’re great for spotting any small issues early and making sure everything’s running smoothly as everyone adjusts. #TeamCollaboration #OnboardingSuccess #TeamDynamics #WorkplaceCulture #LeadershipTips

Technical Lead at Körber Supply Chain | "A problem well stated is a problem half solved.” – John Dewey
I have seen employees reaching out for new jobs, when this happens. For many people, working from home provides a better work-life balance, which results in a happier, more productive employee. Often times the employees will actually work longer hours from home, as they don't have to worry about that commute at the end of the work day. This also allows companies to reduce costs, their environmental footprint and their employees environmental footprints. So, I cannot understand these companies trying to force people back into the office. At most they should be implementing a hybrid solution and require the employees to return to the office for one or two days a week.

Thanks Austin Belcak for sharing.. It's high time C-suite executives wake up and smell the coffee, recognize the evolving work landscape, and consider the benefits of remote or flexible work arrangements. Adapting to changing preferences can boost employee morale, productivity, and retention, ultimately contributing to the company's success. #remoteworking #workfromanywhere #worklifebalance #workfromhome #remotejobs
