The skills that I acquired by working in the service industry, are skills that I use every single day in my professional life. Every. Single. Day. My ability to speak with people in a way that establishes rapport and builds relationships? Born from my bartending days, where the longer someone sat and chatted, the better your sales would be AND the more likely you'd be to gain a new regular. My tendency to stay organized in/around chaos?? Established by working special events and serving large parties where it was imperative to get everyone's order correct, and delivered in a timely manner. My strong eye for detail??? A direct result of working in fine dining where it was made clear that the smallest of details could make or break a guest's entire dining experience. To say that I resonate with the sentiments laid out below, feels like an understatement...but I truly do. It is my sincere belief that the service industry has shaped me into the well-rounded and versatile person that I am today. I picked up a number of skills working in bars and restaurants that have translated well to my transition into more of the corporate world AND shaped me into a more compassionate human.
