Developing a #Visionary #Mindset: A Leadership Lessons from Bregenz A visionary mindset involves seeing beyond the present to imagine #future #possibilities. The Bregenz Opera Festival exemplifies this through its iconic floating stage on the Bodensee where bold creativity and innovation come to life. Yesterday, I had the incredible experience of attending the opera Der Freischütz by Carl Maria von Weber, performed with the Wiener Symphoniker. The breathtaking stage on the Bodensee added a magical dimension to the performance, illustrating the power of unique settings in enhancing artistic expression. This festival's daring productions, which blend #technology and art, showcase what's possible when #imagination meets execution. The James Bond film "Quantum of Solace" also highlights visionary thinking by featuring a thrilling scene at the festival, demonstrating the value of global perspectives and the impact of bold storytelling. #Leadership Lesson: Just as the Bregenz Opera Festival transforms a natural setting into a stage for artistic brilliance, effective leaders transform challenges into opportunities. They envision #possibilities where others see limitations, inspiring their teams to think creatively and innovate. By embracing bold ideas and taking calculated risks, leaders can cultivate a culture of forward-thinking and #resilience. To develop a visionary mindset, seek #diverse #inspirations, embrace creativity, think long-term, collaborate across disciplines, and stay resilient. The examples from Bregenz, including the awe-inspiring Der Freischütz experience, remind us that visionaries and leaders alike not only dream big but also act boldly to turn those dreams into reality. #VisionaryMindset #Resilience #Diverseispirations #Innovation #Forwarthinking #BregenzOpera #Creativity #BoldStorytelling #Leadership #ArtandBusiness #ThechnologyandArt

Producer, Performer and Co-creator of Broadway in Love | Award-winning co-founder of Broadway Under the Stars in Wine Country | Professional Certified Coach (PCC)
Lots of great takeaways from my first League of American Orchestras conference: LEADERSHIP - The biggest skills gap amongst developing arts leaders is: Delegating responsibility to others. - The greatest way to grow an arts leader is: Challenge them with a significant stretch assignment (delegate!). - How? --> Let's chat. AI - AI is likely to be as disruptive to arts organizations as it is in other industries. - There will be a significant advantage to being ahead of the curve. - The creative possibilities are fascinating (I'd be happy to share more). THREAT & OPPORTUNITY - It was heartbreaking to hear of producers securing music rights to video games, movie soundtracks and animated features, hiring pick-up orchestras and presenting shows in the same cities (and sometimes the same venues) as big traditional orchestras, undercutting their audience. - Candlelight Concerts are a HUGE business internationally. They don't have proprietary rights over you presenting a concert with candles. They do have rights to the name "Candlelight Concerts." BROADWAY IN LOVE - We had meaningful conversations with orchestra leaders, creatives and administrators about Broadway in Love for orchestras. There are great possibilities on the horizon. Overall, we were blown away by the kindness and heart of the great people who connected with us. A big thank you to everyone we met! #orch2024 #artsleadership #artsai

In Voka-Vlaams netwerk van ondernemingen’s Tribune, I talked about the importance of aligning your sponsoring strategy with the DNA of your company. It is no coincidence that, for many years, BNP Paribas Fortis has been investing in long-lasting partnerships with key cultural players. Culture is an important engine of society, inviting us to reflect on ourselves, our history, our future. Our sponsoring corresponds to BNP Paribas Fortis’ DNA – driving economic growth while embracing inclusivity and sustainability. That’s why we invest in young film and musical talents, and in making culture accessible to young generations, for instance, with our support to Young Opera or by inviting them to premium concerts. #ReadyForYourWorld #WeLoveCulture

Always work to become a R⭕️CK ⭐️ at whatever you do. This will expand your influence. Take hold of the idea that whatever you do — whatever you have been called to and are responsible for — you are there to perform like an artist. While you might not receive the amount of recognition, accolades, applause or exposure as the stars of stage and screen, the work you do is the same as any Oscar, Emmy or Grammy award winner performing their art. Last night, the ladies next to us were very entertaining at dinner. Really working the staff and each other with story upon revelatory story. It made us want more. It made us want to hear them again. They should’ve been doing standup…. It was a show…an event. In the market, you are a performer as well as a salesperson, leader or teammate, and what you are delivering is the enjoyment the audience receives as a result of your stage presence. By doing whatever you do remarkably well, you make yourself Standout as relevant, remarkable and Unforgettable. You will create raving fans for life, and you just might make yourself rich and famous. The world is deeply in need of truly great performers – those who take their art seriously, who understand the power of personality and who actively work to not only Standout from the crowd but to dazzle, Amaze and delight their audience. Convert one skeptic into a believer, and not only will you have a happy customer, you’ll have also created a performance worth talking about. You will enjoy a much fuller life, and you will build some incredible experiences. #rockstar #perform #performance #performanceart #blackhistorymonth

Since 2004 Square Holes has worked extensively in the arts and cultural sector. Our research has supported government and individual arts companies and festivals, including renowned film, theatre, and opera companies. Read case studies here ... https://lnkd.in/g6wxGUWZ Our research has helped prioritise cultural infrastructure, measure economic and cultural festival impact, and support government funding decisions. “We like to actually test what we think, test our hypotheses. That’s where Square Holes as an independent firm can do that. That can at times be scary, the results may not be what we suspect they could be, but at least we are dealing with reality.” Mat Kesting, Creative Director Adelaide Film Festival (Square Holes has partnered with AFF since 2008) “The Square Holes research was foundational in helping us to secure longevity of funding, removing the historical challenges we’ve faced over ambiguity on this front.” DANIELLE SEYMOUR, Director, _SOUTHSTART (Square Holes has partnered with _SOUTHSTART since 2018) “Every time we do a market research piece, we always ask some specific questions so that we start building that trend data. And then we always choose one or two other areas that we want to focus on and get more detail. One is consistent, which helps us track and report to our Board on our performance indicators. And then one to deep dive into something that’s going to be of future value for us,” “It’s very tangible, specific data, that helps us develop the stories that we want to tell in our marketing, and our social media, et cetera. Otherwise, you’re making decisions based on anecdotes, and that can be misleading.” Elaine Bensted, Chief Executive Zoos South Australia (Square Holes has partnered with Zoos SA since 2013) Other culture, lifestyle and sport clients we have worked with included Helpmann Academy, State Theatre, State Opera, Art Gallery South Australia, Adelaide Oval, and South Australian Cricket Association, including significant research supporting the development of Adelaide Oval and the Riverbank precinct, and research to support culture strategy and policy since 2004. Square Holes has also invested over $500,000 in arts sponsorships towards contra research and initiatives such as the Helpmann Square Holes acquisition art prize of $5,000 cash now in it's third year. Arts and culture is critical part of our identity. Flourishing cities, inspired by real people. We partner with human-curious leaders to optimise growth and inspire innovation through tailored on-going market research and cultural insight programs. Benchmark data, insight toolbox, and local and global sector expertise and network to guide Flourishing Cities since 2004. More ... https://lnkd.in/g6wxGUWZ
