There is no future for Israel based on the narrative of its radicals..... anyone who wants to claim territory exclusively for themselves will only find war, violence and destruction, whereas the moderates at both sides hold the key to peace by non-violent interaction and dialog as equals. With Gaza being destroyed, the chances for a two-state solution are getting minimal, the alternative is a one-state solution. Practically it means to go back to the times of Canaan and establish (democratic) autonomous communities and spread them over the entire territory of Canaan. These autonomous communities can coexist and come together in a confederation of communities sharing the country. There is space for all cultural identities this way. Currently, such scenario seems very far fetched, but, since the Arabs and Palestinians belong to where they are and nobody outside is waiting for an exodus, the most probable alternative scenario is that Israel will lose worldwide support and may no longer exist in 10 years from now. www.canaan.community & www.pax.ngo & www.convergence.ngo

Noel Pearson answered the call for more detail at the Press Club yesterday. “The actual detail is what Parliament legislates under the last paragraph of the proposed provision. And the provision reads, The Parliament shall have the power to make laws. … the detail is a separate thing for parliament. And note and it's not the government's function. The government may introduce a Bill but it can't pass the necessary detail. … The normal parliamentary process has to be undertaken in order for us to see the details.” He then went on to say:   “We've had this false debate about details that has conflated the detail of the constitutional provision versus the detail of subsequent legislation. The ABC was created in 1932 by Prime Minister Joseph Lyon, under a power of the Commonwealth constitution. Parliament legislated the details in 1932, amended it in 1942. And then the Hawke Government came along scrapped it all and replaced it with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation Act in 1983. That's what parliament does. Parliament's job is to change the details whenever they decide to, what doesn't change is the constitutional provision. So you can anticipate that next year in the event of a successful referendum, the parliament will create the first version of the voice and that might go along for 10 years. And then the Government or a Parliament may come along and say we want to amend that. We want to amend the detail to get the full power to do it. So this attempt to conflate the constitutional provision with the legislative detail, it is a complete failure to read the words of the provision. The word say a parliament shall have power to make laws that's how our system works. So if there's any parliamentarian demanding detail, I suggest they go to the bathroom and look themselves in the mirror and find out who's responsible.” #VoteYes #Yes23 #TogetherWeCanMakeHistory #DirectorsForTheVoice
