My husband and I are currently reading a book on healthy relationships, and one of the key topics we’re covering is the power of accountability. It got me thinking about the role of spotters in tumbling sports like gymnastics and cheerleading. Just like in relationships, spotters are there to provide support and safety, ensuring athletes can focus on performing their skills without fear of injury. In life, accountability partners serve the same purpose, they keep us grounded and focused, helping us stay on track while offering guidance when needed. Whether it’s in your personal or professional life, having someone to “spot” you ensures you’re not navigating challenges alone. They help you perform at your best, much like how a spotter ensures the tumbler stays safe. Accountability isn’t about control, it’s about support, encouragement, and shared responsibility for growth. Given the growing diversity of modern teams, how do we harness individual strengths for the greater good? My recent experience of working in Women's Premier League (WPL) with cricketers and coaches from 7 countries and 10 different Indian states, here's what I learned: 1) Looking to explore what we have in common and what brings us together vs what differentiates and separates us is a simple way to increase connection. 2) Learning how other nationalities/regions approach a similar problem can provide a smoother route to collaboration. 3) In moments of high stress or failure/defeat, spending time together is more important than in success/victory. Even though as a team, results on the pitch didn't go as desired, the learnings, friendships and togetherness was special! Circle of Safety A tiger liked to prowl a field where 4 oxen used to dwell. It tried to attack them many times but whenever it came near them, the four oxen would turn their back against one another so that whichever way he approached it was greeted by the horns first. After some time, the oxen developed some differences among themselves and each one went their way, making it easier for the lion to attack them one by one- Aesop In the recently concluded Paralympics 2024, India won 29 medals. This was their best performance ever in the 12 games' held editions. The teams were called to an interaction with the Indian Prime Minister to share their experience. One of the mental coaches of the team spoke about how the teams held themselves as a cohesive unit, stayed positive, and backed each other. Being differently abled had their challenges and the teams spoke highly of their coaches and support staff which helped them win laurels for the country. In his book Leaders Eat Last, Simon Sinek coined the concept of the “Circle of Safety”. Individuals are faced with a lot of uncertainties from the outside. The teams are faced with uncertainties of technology changes, layoffs, account closures, etc. which have an impact on the team’s performance and morale. Leaders who create an environment where everyone watches over each other eventually will be able to weather the storm. Developing empathy can go a long way where people are encouraged to share their challenges and personal stories. Understanding the person first is more important than making him understand the work. This can happen over a casual conversation near the coffee machine or the cafeteria. It’s often these places where individuals are more likely to talk openly than in a formal office setting. #leaderseatlast #empathy #circleofsafety

Work Pressure ! Work Pressure ! Work Pressure ! From the last few days there has been so much buzz about it. But don't we think - Pressure is something we are creating in our Mind. Look at 2007 where Sreesanth took that catch or 2011 World Cup when Dhoni Stepped in to stadium was there not any pressure ? The pressure of handling emotions was Huge. Agar uss waqt kuch ho jaata, tho we would have taken the blame ? There are Shop Owners, Entrepreneurs, who are opening the Shop at 9 am and closing at 11 pm midnight. Are they not having any pressure? Because it's their passion, if you have real passion then we don't see the amount of hours we spend on doing it daily. Well I'm not against Work life. But we can't expect it daily. There are Days when work needs us, There are Days when life needs us. We should be able to balance it that's what true work life is. !! #worklife #passion
