💡 The importance of design in today’s healthcare facilities has been identified worldwide as having the utmost importance in not only the functionality of the facilities but also on the overall wellbeing of the patients that reside within these areas. Staff and patients alike, have been extremely vocal on how the aesthetics of the environment that they are being treated in and where family reside awaiting their loved ones, can make the whole experience even more daunting, ultimately leading to additional stress, an increase in anxiety and worries over what’s next to come. It’s amazing to see and hear, how a simple change in appearance can improve the overall look and feel of the surrounding environment. PMB, in partnership with Sharp Rees-Stealy Medical Group, is proud to celebrate the steel topping-out on a 75,000 square-foot medical office building in Chula Vista, California   The new medical office building includes a 127,000 square-foot parking structure with 375 stalls and will provide advanced healthcare including primary and specialty care, urgent care, physical therapy, radiology, cardiology, neurology, laboratory, and pharmacy services. Situated in a prime location in the Chula Vista Center Mall at 480 H St., the new project is adjacent to other medical campus services and surrounding retail amenities. 💡Streamlining triage models is just the starting point for fixing an A&E department’s problems - observations from one department can provide a health check for the entire estate, writes Lead Architect at Health Spaces, Jaime Bishop. "Whenever we work on a new design, we start with an initial assessment. Like A&E medics triaging a patient, we record the ‘vital signs’ through surveys, site visits and conversations with staff, both formal and incidental. "We also note the stress lines etched on their faces. Even if we restrict our observations to just one department, we quickly gain a vivid picture of the whole organisation. This phenomenon is intensified when considering A&E which, more than any other department, reveals the fault lines of a hospital under pressure...."
