Steven Paterson sells the Big Issue 🗞️ in #Edinburgh and says "interacting with people is what I enjoy most about selling the magazine." Selling the magazine has given Steven stability and supported him with his mental health and depression... "I was really struggling in life with my mental health and my depression. Lately, that’s gone away. I’m thinking a lot clearer and I’m more motivated. Doing the magazine makes me get out and about and speak to people." MAY is #MentalHealthMonth Talking about your mental health, is not attention seeking. Everyday people have trouble functioning or worse choose to end their lives. And we say...Why didn't they speak up? A stigma still exists in our society that being vulnerable, especially for men, is a weakness. Let's change that! Support someone... 1. LISTEN: Let them share as much or as little as they want, and don't try to diagnose or second guess their feelings. 2. ASK: What can I do right now to support you? 3. CONFIRM: I am here for you. *And Please pay attention to what you say to yourself inside your head! #bekindtoyourselfandothers

This month holds a deep and personal significance for me, as I've lost two of my closest friends to suicide. Their absence is a reminder of how crucial it is to break the silence and take action in supporting mental health. It’s okay not to be okay. And it’s more than okay to reach out, offer help, or simply listen. Small gestures can make a world of difference. Let’s work together to reduce the stigma around mental health, raise awareness, and make it known that no one has to struggle alone. If you or someone you know is going through a difficult time, please reach out—for help, for support, or just to talk. Let’s stand united in this fight. #SuicidePreventionMonth #MentalHealthMatters #YouAreNotAlone

Let's break the silence on depression! It's crucial to understand that mental health matters, and seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. Depression can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, or background. By opening up and talking about our struggles, we not only lighten our own burden but also encourage others to do the same. Whether it's a friend, family member, or therapist, reaching out for support can make all the difference. Together, let's erase the stigma and build a community of understanding and compassion. Remember, you're never alone, and there's always hope on the other side of darkness. #breakthestigma #mentalhealthmatters #youarenotalone #depressionawareness

Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay, a reminder that taking care of our minds is just as important as everything else. Mental health isn’t something to push aside or be ashamed of - it’s something we need to prioritize, both for ourselves and for those around us. At Kake, we believe that mental health isn’t a journey anyone should walk alone. Often, those who seem the strongest are the ones facing the toughest battles. That’s why having a supportive community matters so much - and why we so strongly believe that #CompassionIsBadass. 🎂 Today, we encourage you to pause, reflect, and maybe take a moment to reach out. A little kindness can mean everything to someone who’s struggling. And if it’s you who needs some kindness, remember: you’ve made it through 100% of your toughest days so far. You’ve got this - and the people around you care more than you know. 💜 #MentalHealthMatters

Today we want to find out from anyone who may have found it difficult to overcome the difficulties of opening up, how you were able to share your feelings regardless of fear to help empower anyone else who might still be struggling with opening up. Please share your comments in the captions below. #Vunrebility #MentalHealthMatters #OpeningUp
