As I sat 10 rows up from the stage at Depeche Mode this weekend, I welled up once, nearly threw up once and got angry once as the songs "Precious," "In Your Room" and "Everything Counts" reminded me that the ASPCA, HSUS and Best Friends have failed cats and kittens and failed them HARD. They not only continue to turn a blind eye to the thousands of dogfighters that are killing them, but Best Friends' 4,000 shelter and rescue partners have been handing out dogs, cats and kittens like Halloween candy for years, getting them killed in horrific ways. When a dogfighting app came out in 2011, the Big Three went on the attack, getting it removed from app stores. When "Don't F__ with Cats" came out -- during COVID while millions of people were laid off, broke, angry and bored -- they didn't say a word. So, we now have a country full of psychopaths like Bani Mezquititla torturing cats, God-fearing Christians like Logan Cavender torturing cats and so-called cat rescues like Meows of Hope in Kentucky torturing cats, AND we have godless heathens in China uploading cat torture videos to Telegram while wannabe animal advocates in the U.S. and other countries post those videos and screencaps on X to "raise awareness." Are the ASPCA, HSUS, Humane Society International or Best Friends doing anything about any of this? Nope. So this is yet another reminder that if you love animals -- particularly cats -- you don't have a single reason to donate to the ASPCA, HSUS, HSI or Best Friends this #christmas season, but you have nearly a billion reasons not to. Our Story The story of SteeWoo began when I first became a mother, taking care of my little child, Steve. As winter approached, my family started gathering wood to heat our home. It was during this time that I had a realization—although a tree may be cut down to keep us warm, it gives birth to countless trunks, each with its own character, unique appearance, and beauty. What if these Lebanese trees could stay with us? What if their trunks could be transformed into slices and kept in our homes, serving various purposes and acting as souvenirs from these trees? A tree doesn't simply die; it creates numerous trunks, which in turn become slices—souvenirs that preserve the essence of the tree. And thus, these "tree children" became SteeWoo.
