Leading the response to an incident is a bit like conducting an orchestra. You are not to go anywhere near the drums, the violins, or the oboes. Maybe you can hit a triangle a couple of times, but that's it. Your job is to make sure that there are people to play the drums, the violins and the oboes, and that they play the right notes at the right times to produce beautiful music, as opposed to just a deafening screech. Similarly, your job as an incident response lead is not to do anything other than making sure the right things get done at the right times by the right people.
