Using the medium Ubuhlalu, this work “Dube’elimthende”, pays homage to MaDube/Izithakazelo ZakwaDube “Heraldry of the House/Place of Dube”; my forebears, their heroic deeds and noble lives. iDube “the Zebra” 🦓, its character, behavior and beauty, informs ours. Where membership is not guaranteed by Dube name alone, by exemple we are seated in the House of Dube. Seen or abandoned by our Ancestors. From Ubuhlalu, we get the root word “hla” pertaining to being-seated. As a medium used to represent the collective, each bead contributes to membership of the collective, our overall balance/beauty. Therefore, each bead matters equally. My immediate ancestry traces back to the ancient Empire of Monomotapa (Kunene River in Namibia, travels north to Angola, then right, ultimately to a place called “Dube” in Congo). Ubuhlalu as a circle, our legacy is long and numbers too many to count. My work emphasizes African/Black culture and identity traits, everywhere. We share a mighty emphasis on the power and sacredness of names/words. “yo’mama!”🫨🫵🏾 vs “Yo’Mama”😌🙌🏾, comes with power to build/do no harm or destroy/do harm (choices). In a nutshell, names do not correspond to what the eyes see as in, an art-forms “objects” or life form. But far deeper cultural and emotional meaning. I liked the ideological foundation of the philosophy so much that we immediately established partnership relations with ARCE, as a result of which we implemented the JGS program in Armenia in 2021, where I was the Country Leader of the program, to carry it out with honor. Partnership, respect, and trust with ARCE guided us to implement the 2nd JGS program in Armenia in 2022. If I talk about the secret of success, I will mention that it was new in Armenia as an informal education. Here, we implement various educational programs, but perhaps we were the first in the philosophical movement. As a result of the joint conversations with Isidora, an idea was created to establish the Ayn Rand Center Armenia, which will have its separate programs to carry out educational classes and discussions on Objectivism. UNIRIOJA: summer course on transactional justice: the case of Timor leste. Geneva 4 July. It was a real pleasure to share my working experience in Timor leste. In particular the initiative on promoting the uma lulik, sacred houses. As a result in 2010, the Spanish cooperation, AECID, led a proto "team Europe" cultural initiative, promoting the TL sacred houses, "Uma lulik" as key visual instruments to provide support to the culture of peace in that country. A few years later while in Ethiopia, 2018, I shared this exercise with the by then minister of Culture. As a result, an official request for Spanish technical assistance was made to replicate in this country the Spanish exhibition model "Ages of mankind", particularly the 2013 exhibition " Reconciliare", having in mind the three monotheistic faiths. Thus visually showing that Ethiopian ethnic and religious groups share common beliefs and principles, that jointly shape and embody the Ethiopian soul since their tenets are built with the mortar of peace and coexistence. In addition, the Spanish "ages of mankind" model also addresses local economic development with the promotion of tourism, making ample room for job opportunities or business initiatives. This element is paramount to strengthen a culture of peace. As I observed along my career, peace prospects risk becoming just a one generation dream when youth lacks economic perspectives- opportunities plus political social space. As a mere example think of El Salvador. It's about recognising the systemic oppression imposed by colonisers and the ongoing struggles for self-determination and cultural revitalisation. It also entails acknowledging intergenerational trauma and the resilience of Maori communities in the face of colonisation's enduring legacy. Ultimately, understanding colonisation is a vital step towards healing, empowerment, and reclaiming sovereignty for Maori.
