Did you know Africa has been warming at about +0.3°C per decade between 1991 and 2023, slightly faster than the global average? This warming leads to extreme weather events, causing droughts and floods that devastate communities. On average, African countries are losing 2–5% of their Gross Domestic Product (GDP) due to these climate extremes. #blueatlasproject #donate #nonprofit #makeadifference #volunteer #fyp

In the wake of the devastating floods that swept across Pakistan, leaving countless families homeless, Al Mustafa Pakistan has been at the forefront, offering life-saving support. As the global community gathers at #COP29 to discuss urgent climate action, the ongoing flood crisis in Pakistan serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for relief and sustainable solutions. Among the many lives touched by Al Mustafa Pakistan’s relief efforts is Amjad Ali’s story, a poignant example of resilience and hope. Amjad lost everything when the floodwaters ravaged his village. His home, possessions, and livelihood were washed away, leaving him and his family with nowhere to turn. Al Mustafa Pakistan not only provided Amjad with essential food supplies but also offered him a safe shelter in a newly constructed home. As climate change continues to disrupt lives, organizations like Al Mustafa are stepping in to fill the gap, one call at a time. #CommonwealthForClimate #COP29 #NatureNow #ClimateChange #Lahore #Pakistan #DonateNow #ClimateAction #UnitedNations #NGO #NonProfit #innovation #futurism #startups #technology

"Desertification, land degradation, and drought are among the most pressing environmental challenges of our time, with up to 40% of all land area worldwide already considered degraded. Healthy land not only provides us with almost 95% of our food but so much more: it clothes and shelters us, provides jobs and livelihoods, and protects us from the worsening droughts, floods and wildfires. This year, the theme of the Desertification and Drought Day “United for Land. Our Legacy. Our Future” spotlights the future of land stewardship — our most precious resource to ensure the stability and prosperity of billions of people around the world." #drought #desertification TLBBHFOUNDATION.ORG . . . #donate #nonprofit #humanitarian #africa #mutualaid #ghana #activism #ladybbless #tlbbh #tlbbhfoundation #SDGs #tolerance #sustainabledevelopment #enviromentalism #climatechange #tlbbhfoundation #tlbbhf #SDG15 #Empowerment #Eco #sustainablity #nature #climateactivism #plastic #trees #ecosystem

Urgent Appeal: Help Us Combat Gaza's Environmental Crisis and Support Displaced Families We are facing an environmental catastrophe that is not new but remains a critical cause of pollution and the spread of infectious diseases. The current infrastructure design is severely inadequate for the population, which has swelled to nearly one million people—far beyond the original design meant for just 100,000. The only outlet for all this wastewater is the sea, further exacerbating health risks and environmental hazards. Today, 80% of Gaza’s population has been forced to take refuge along the shores, driven from their homes by relentless displacement. These families, now living on the beaches, are exposed to the very waters contaminated by untreated sewage. This dire situation calls for urgent intervention. Your support can help us address this crisis and provide the displaced with the essentials they need to survive. Please consider donating today to bring hope and relief to those my family . Welthungerhilfe under the microscope 🔬 Our annual report 2023 provides transparent insight into our work, explaining how it is financed and where and how donations are used. 📖 In 2023, we experienced massive crises, wars and disasters in many places, exacerbating hunger worldwide. The consequences of climate change can be felt everywhere and seen in the form of droughts, floods and other extreme weather events. The year was also marked by ongoing conflicts, including those in Sudan, Ukraine, and the Gaza Strip. ⚠️ 💚 In view of the ongoing global challenges, our special thanks go to our supporters because solidarity with people in need has not waned. In 2023, WHH supported around 16.4 million people in 36 countries with 630 international projects. Many people are now harvesting and generating more, which means they can feed themselves better, have clean drinking water, and fall ill less often. #AnnualReport2023 #ZeroHunger #HumanitarianAid #DevelopmentCooperation #Welthungerhilfe

🌍 Be Part of the Solution: Join Us in the Fight Against Hunger in South Sudan! 🌱 We are proud to take action in addressing hunger in South Sudan, a nation of 10.9 million people, where 8.9 million urgently need humanitarian assistance due to conflict, climate change, and extreme flooding. As students of the International Business Management program at Centennial College, we are partnering with Action Against Hunger Canada and our Corporate Sustainability lecturer, Prof. Natalie Chinsam, to raise awareness and funds for critical initiatives in South Sudan, such as: ✅ Building boreholes to provide access to safe drinking water. ✅ Training women in sustainable rice farming to transform flood-prone areas into food sources. ✅ Empowering communities with modern farming techniques to improve resilience. ✅ Providing lifesaving nutrition and healthcare through mobile emergency teams. Why South Sudan? 👉 South Sudan has one of the highest levels of food insecurity, with 75% of families facing hunger—the highest since 2011. 👉 The nation has been devastated by conflict and climate disasters, including extreme flooding that has displaced thousands. 👉 Women and children are among the most vulnerable, shouldering the brunt of these crises. A Story of Hope Mary, a mother of three, shares her experience: "Flooding destroyed our home and farm, leaving us with nothing. But Action Against Hunger’s rice farming program gave us the tools and knowledge to grow food, even in flooded lands. Now, I can feed my children and rebuild our lives." How You Can Help 🤝 Donate: Every dollar contributes to lifesaving efforts in South Sudan. Click the link to support our campaign: https://lnkd.in/eeEipDii 📢 Spread Awareness: Share this post to highlight the challenges and solutions in South Sudan. 🌟 Join Us: Support our project and learn more about how sustainable solutions can transform lives. A new video by Our Eden traces the timeline of one of the most ambitious environmental projects in world history, the Great Green Wall in Africa. Eleven countries from the African Union have come together to build a 5,000-mile wall across the entire width of the continent made from trees and grass by 2030. The project aims to prevent the entire Sahara Desert from moving southward into the Sahel region, which is home to over 100 million people and growing. The problem is climate change is causing the Sahara to expand into the Sahel at a breakneck pace of up to 30 miles every year. The encroachment of the desert into the Sahel creates persistent droughts that destroy farms and livelihoods at a time when the population could expand to 330 million people by 2050. So how is the project going? By 2020 it had raised $1 billion of its $30 billion price tag, and only 4% had been planted. It will have to proceed 20 times faster, restoring an additional 20 million acres per year, to finish by 2030. However, over the past two years, there has been a significant cash injection into the project of $20 billion from international organizations in a final push to finish the project by 2030. When completed, the Great Green Wall should restore 247 million acres of land, sequester 250 million tons of CO2 and create 10 million jobs. To follow the project's progress or to donate to the cause, you can learn more at Tree Aid. https://lnkd.in/gGqs4qAq #africa #climatechange #desert #greatgreenwall #progress #update

People who are claiming to be championing climate change activism in Zimbabwe, let's not waste donor funds while we don't act. Instead of all the talking, each to his or her village, plant trees and we begin to advance afforestation. By so doing even carbon sequestration is easily done and so will rainfall patterns improve when there are enough trees for transpiration because all the disaster in poor countries is rainfall and temperatures related. That's the right bottom-up approach instead of what we're seeing today. Standing in the streets and spending nights begging for donor funds to waste them on salaries and indoors conferences that bring no dividends is the same modus operandi used by ZANU PF to find ways of looting public funds. Each to his/her own village and start from there. The easiest solution to addressing climate change in all it's dimensions!!
