This is what the smile of VICTORY looks like. Here my daughter is with her Brazilian Godfather, last weekend, having made it into the iconic Maracana Stadium, Rio de Janeiro. Heroic journey and lessons learned: 1. Spare tickets came up 2 hours before the game started - Say an immediate YES to opportunities that align with your hearts desire. Think later. 2. No Ubers to get to the stadium - Find an alternative way - a cab even if more expensive because opportunities are fleeting. 3. Cab stuck in traffic. The clock is ticking. Decide to chill out, windows open - phone with digital tickets nicked through cab window - stay focused and aware until you land your goal. 4. Decide to still go to the stadium - Never quit when love and opportunity align. 5. Find a person that knows a person that knows a person to get tickets - any success worth having depends on teamwork and the power of your network. 6. Enjoy your victory - and realise that losing the phone made it more possible to experience being fully present to the beautiful game and feeling pure happiness - all setbacks and obstacles have silver linings - you just don’t realise it at the time - and if you quit you def won’t realise it! 7. As you might already know I am loyal supporter of the Brisbane Broncos since the early '90s. Like 100,000’s of others, I've witnessed the exhilarating highs of the 90s and 2000’s and just last year, the challenging lows, and every year in between, that come with being part of such a storied club. This season, despite all of OUR collective expectations, it didn’t unfold with a finals finish. However, I firmly believe that it’s in these challenging moments where true character and resilience are forged. It’s easy to be disappointed when things don’t go our way, especially after the high of last year’s grand final. Yet, I choose to focus on the positives: the moments of joy, the lessons we've learned, the growth we've experienced, and the unwavering passion that continues to drive every member of the Broncos community. In both sports and life, success is rarely a straight line. It’s about how we adapt, learn, and come back stronger. I have no doubt that our team will use this season as an opportunity to reflect, regroup, and refocus on what it takes to climb back to the top.
