While private industry leaders begin to recognize their costly failure and move to dismantle discriminatory DEI practices, government leaders are only now discovering fidget spinners. ߷ Jack Daniels Maker to End Executive Pay Link to DEI Targets "Jack Daniel's whiskey maker Brown-Forman Corp. became the latest company to scrap corporate diversity equity and inclusion programs as pressure increasingly grows from conservatives to shed diversity programs or face a public backlash. The company sent a letter to employees on Wednesday informing them that Brown-Forman was going to stop linking executive compensation to progress on DEI. The Kentucky-based business will also scrap plans to push for more suppliers from a minority background according to a copy of the letter shared on X by anti-DEI activist Robby Starbuck and confirmed by Brown-Forman. The decision follows similar moves in recent months from * Harley-Davidson Inc. * Tractor Supply Co. * and Deere & Co. who were targeted by Starbuck." TLDR: "Get woke, go broke."💸 💸 💸

Red Flag 🚩 You can often see 𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 by looking behind the business- into the structure itself. Do you want to though? Do you want to see what's really going on? A time for this is when it comes to seeing Joint Ventures, commonly known as “JVs”. They're well-known within the First Nations business landscape. When it comes to JV’s you can look at these as falling into two categories if you like. First, is the Unincorporated Joint Ventures, contractor style arrangements can be an example. Second, we have the Incorporated Joint Ventures, where there’s shareholders or shares owned at 51% or more then its’ classified as being an Aboriginal business. A mere percentage! Yep, at just 51%. But that’s not enough. Who is making the decisions? Is the first Nations person merely a shadow or are they actually involved in controlling the business activities? How is community being impacted by the First Nations business? Don’t look at ownership percentages alone. Come on procurement teams, don’t just look at percentage figure. To be a First Nations business you need to see more than just 51% of the shares being owned by the First Nations shareholder. You want Aboriginal business done right, don't you... So the be sure your working with a fully fledged First Nations business. Feel right about your engagements from the start, I mean proper engagement is just the beginning. I think it's important to evaluate where the chorus is coming from. Ultra-wealthy investors are often disconnected from the realities not only of the employees at the enterprise level, but even more so disconnected from the consumer. It's inarguable that, at least in the US, the workforce and the consumer base is becoming increasingly diverse, not just ethnically or racially, but across many other dynamics. It would only stand to reason that customers would be better served by products and services that meet their needs, which are best articulated by people who understand them. That's the economic/business rationale - without even beginning to address the social justice dynamics that DEI looks to address. Finally, it's important to note that the chorus we're hearing is coming from a very small group of (heterogeneous) individuals who can afford really large megaphones. I remember learning in grade school that shouting louder doesn't make me more right. I stand with DEI.
There is an interesting change in the wind from some regarding DEI in the corporate world. I'm curious...what do you think? "Attacks on DEI are spreading to the corporate world. Critics are rallying to gut these policies, going as far as to deem them “reverse racism.” 👇
