Compliance startup Falco wins South East Angels' Kent roadshow 🪙🎉 Founders and investors in the Kent startup ecosystem came together last month for the latest startup roadshow from South East Angels, an investor network based in Brighton. Five early-stage startups across a variety of industries pitched their ventures to potential investors – but it was Falco that triumphed on the day. Falco aims to revolutionise compliance in the financial services industry by developing intelligent, autonomous digital co-workers that integrate seamlessly with compliance teams. Studies have found that 60 per cent of compliance professionals in the financial services industry are burnt out and leaving their roles due to the immense pressures of regulatory change, substantial fines and a lack of resources and tools to operate efficiently. South East manufacturers forecast economic boost from new government ⚙️📈 Manufacturers across Southampton and the wider South East region are powering ahead with a boost to overall economic prospects forecast from a period of greater political stability. The findings come in the Q3 Manufacturing Outlook survey from lobby group Make UK and business advisory firm BDO UK LLP, which shows almost six in ten companies believe that the recent change in government will lead to better economic growth overall in the next 12 months. In contrast, just 6 per cent of companies expect GDP to decline this year as a result of the new government. According to the survey, business confidence in the South East is continuing to climb, reaching levels last seen at the beginning of the recovery from the pandemic. Horsham’s Ceres takes its solid oxide electrolysis tech to the Indian market 🌏⚙️ Ceres, a West Sussex-based hydrogen energy innovator, has begun a strategic collaboration with Indian energy and environment solutions provider Thermax Limited. The two companies have entered a non-exclusive, global licence agreement for Thermax to manufacture, sell and service stack array modules (SAM) based on Ceres’ advanced solid oxide electrolysis (SOEC) technology. Thermax will also develop, commercialise and sell SAM balance of modules (SBM) and multi-megawatt SOEC electrolyser modules. The partnership will help accelerate the deployment of SOEC technology in India and worldwide to enable cost-effective green hydrogen production. Construction begins on YASA's new Bicester Motion HQ 🏗️🏢 A ground-breaking ceremony was held last week to celebrate the start of works on the new Bicester Motion HQ for electric motor manufacturer YASA. The ceremony was attended by representatives from Bicester Motion and YASA along with Oxfordshire County Council, Cherwell District Council, the Mayor of Bicester Town Council, Advanced Oxford, Oxford to Cambridge Pan-Regional Partnership and members of the consultancy team.
