Sapling Wealth Management - Crafting Customized Financial Solutions for Small Business 401(k)s and Individuals
How much money does it take to get the attention of a "bulge bracket" wealth manager? In this case, UBS is shutting down their Asian accounts if they have less than $2 million in assets, which means these accounts are viewed as breakeven ... or worse. Firms with high-cost structures must do this to maintain a margin to stay in business. For individuals with accounts balances <$2-3 million need to think carefully about the level of service they receive (not the level service the firm has the ability to deliver) when choosing a wealth manager.

This article in The Wall Street Journal is definitely worth reading. The analysis is also worth noting because it opens up the Pandora’s box of valuing major corporations. tl;dr J.P. Morgan is undervalued. For instance, if you carved out the J.P. Morgan Payments business and valued it on a standalone basis against payment industry peers, it would be in the Top 20 on the NYSE. Just one business unit! Now, imagine how valuable all the other components are? https://lnkd.in/eMTpS_j3

The integration journey can significantly benefit professionals by enhancing operational efficiency, fostering innovation through the seamless merging of diverse systems and practices, and improving collaboration across teams. It also opens up opportunities for cost savings and better resource allocation, ultimately contributing to the growth and competitiveness of their organizations.
We are unlocking the next phase of our integration. Yesterday we announced changes to members of UBS’s Group Executive Board. This structure enhances UBS’s focus—we are cementing the strategy for the firm’s future growth and positioning, backed by a leadership team curated with the future in mind. Additionally, as of today, the UBS and Credit Suisse parent banks have legally merged. Coming less than a year after the legal close of the acquisition, it represents the culmination of months of intense effort by thousands of colleagues across our firm. As a critical milestone in our integration journey, this step allows for continued delivery of exceptional services for all of our clients, crafted for efficiency and rooted in enduring relationships. It will also unlock the next phase of cost, capital, funding and tax benefits from the second half of 2024. As we embark on this transitional phase of operational consolidation, we will remain focused on serving our clients, following through on our strategy, investing in our people, and acting as a pillar of economic support in the communities where we live and work UBS is now well positioned as we progress further on our integration journey to realize the expected synergies and efficiencies of our combination, while putting even more emphasis on our long-term priorities and growth prospects, particularly in the Americas and Asia-Pacific.
